How do you deal with the incredible ignorance of the majority of people in this world?

It's not even their fault, if you think about it. All of us are ignorant if we don't get the right information, and the ability to access information is limited by so many factors.

But this is a taboo subject. If you talk about your frustrations with the ignorance of society, people shout you down. They say, "You are ignorant too! You are an egotist!".

Well, of some things I am ignorant. The difference is that I try hard not to be. I try to learn things, share knowledge, and help make this a better-informed world. I am not perfect, and I can only do so much.

But truly, the ignorance around us is staggering. People are living in a web of misconceptions and lies, blinded by the limitations of their minds, the limitations of their surroundings.

And you can say, "The ignorance of others does not affect me". But this is simply false. We are all connected. The ignorance of people a thousand miles away can still affect you by the chain of cause and effect.

We are living in a world of delusions and misconceptions, and this makes us weak and easy to manipulate. The people at the top know this and they're using it to their advantage, and encouraging us to fight amongst ourselves, to throw personal attacks, rather than to share knowledge and be as one brotherhood.

It's terrible.
>>
I'm too stupid to understand what that picture's supposed to mean.
Also, TL;DR.
>>
>>29206337
There are two pizzas
Both the kid and the teacher are idiots
>>
>>29206356
Oh wait I misread it. The kid is right and the teacher is dumb, and I'm dumb too
>>
>>29206337

The (ostensible) student gave a good, logical answer, but his/her (supposed) teacher marked it wrong and gave an answer that contradicts the initial information in the question.
>>
>>29206301
That was a stupid picture to attach

But not as stupid as the teacher, who didn't even read the question
>>
>>29206337
It's an absolutely terribly worded question.

It's trying to ask.. "How is this possible?"

The kid came up with a completely logical solution because he was thinking within the boundaries of the question - How is this possible?

The teacher's solution is that it's impossible - Which is false - And marked him wrong for being correct. The teacher is actually wrong and has no concept of spatial perception.

If a pizza has a diameter of 1 mile and you eat 4/6 slices of it but someone eats 5/6 slices of a pizza with a 1 inch diameter then the 4/6 is a lot more.

tl;dr retarded teacher, retarded question, retarded education system
>>
>>29206356
How is the kid an idiot? If Marty ordered a large pizza and Luis ordered a small, then Marty could eat more pizza than Luis even though he ate a smaller proportion of his own pizza. Only the teacher is an idiot, but you might be one too.
>>
>>29206301
How we *should* deal with ignorance of people is just kill them all.
>>
Normies have made it abundantly clear to me that my input is neither welcomed nor valued so I have simply stopped contributing my thoughts.
>>
>>29206301
>How do you deal
Poorly. I isolate myself and spend my free time studying math and contributing to libre software. Having friends or family would be nice, but every attempt to get some is a disappointment.
>>
>>29206399
I corrected myself earlier
You must be an idiot too
>>
I don't deal with it. I am isolated from society and sometimes just furious inside when I hear/read that some normie said/did something really stupid or illogical.

I'm afraid we can't do anything. Stupid masses are going to stay ignorant no matter what.
>>
>>29206384
Out-of-the-box solutions:
There's a third pizza.
First and second comparison refer to different quantities, such as mass and volume.
Both fractions refer to the same pizza at different points in time.
>>
>>29206301
i was in a high intelligence % at school. i think i just got lucky with those genetics, which lead to a learning environment and me applying myself.

normies could write a similar post about "why are some people so inept at relationships and being sociable?"

>>29206616
this is one of the biggest red pills to swallow. i also learnt not to tell people about my depression or real problems, because they literally cannot understand unless they're in the same boat.

But guys, what about meme magic?
>>
>>29206907
>Marty ate 4/6 of '''''''his''''''' pizza and Luis ate 5/6 of '''''''his''''''' pizza.

So there can't be third pizza (they would say pizzas). They don't refer to same pizza, there is "'''his''' pizza" not "'''their''' pizza". Also you can't compare two different quantities.

Kid was right
>>
>>29206929

>i think i just got lucky with those genetics, which lead to a learning environment and me applying myself.

Yes, obviously. People are the products of their genetics and environment.

>normies could write a similar post about "why are some people so inept at relationships and being sociable?"

Well, that's a great question to ask and something that could lead to fruitful discussion if people were willing to discuss the matter objectively.
>>
>>29206943
Yeah, memes/propaganda may work. But as a shut-in NEET only thing I can do is spouting dank memes on FourChinz with my comrades.

But if there was some collective action like making some hashtag on Twitter trending and spreading memes there to redpill normies about something I would like join in and help.

>this is one of the biggest red pills to swallow. i also learnt not to tell people about my depression or real problems, because they literally cannot understand unless they're in the same boat.

This, every time I've tried to talk to anyone about it, including my parents, they get defensive and sometimes outright combative. I don't get it. And then if I pretend to be happier around them because I don't want to get into an argument about whether or not I'm sad they act like I was faking my depression.

I've started to think lately that humans just aren't smart enough to truly advance as a species. We've kind of been riding the coattails of a few great men but by and large we haven't really changed.

Desu fampai, for years I would read and memorize facts and attempt to impress my parents. At first they "enjoyed" it, but then started to actively try to suppress it because apparently I would correct their "facts" frequently.

After I think 10th grade, I just stopped trying. I finally recognized that people don't want to be any less ignorant than they already are, and the easiest way to deal with it is to never talk, or to try to be normal.
>>
>>29207504

This shaming tactic has already been addressed in the OP.
>>
>>29207548

>I finally recognized that people don't want to be any less ignorant than they already are

But some people clearly do want to be less ignorant. I love becoming less ignorant.

Maybe this desire exists in some form in almost everyone's heart and it just needs to be awakened!
>>
>>29206301
I really only care about my sphere of influence/microcosm/whatever you will and the same for a few select people in my life. So really, the ignorance thing is indeed a serious issue on a large scale, but when I only consider the ignorance that I encounter, it's small and I can usually help the person to correct it, either by just knowing it, or we'll go do some fact checking together if it sounds incorrect. The latter of the two is nice, because sometimes, I am wrong about the issue and they were right, which then helps me be more humble and less ignorant of an issue.

Perhaps I am being irresponsible in my society for not wanting to spread more correct information and seek ways to do so, but it is my personal belief that everybody should do their part in their small, immediate social circles, which should then reach out to the next and the next and etc;
>>
>>29207080

>But if there was some collective action like making some hashtag on Twitter trending and spreading memes there to redpill normies about something I would like join in and help.

At the risk of derailing the thread, what is something you would like to 'redpill normies' about?

I'll TRY not to let this become a debate about the thing you pick.

Maybe the hashtag is already there and you could help spread awareness using it.
>>
A great tip to those who like to correct others out of a want for the spread of correct information, it's all about your delivery. If you start your sentence with "actually," you have already lost their attention because that is one of the most condescending ways to start off a sentence. Be kind and polite about it. Don't make them feel stupid, make them feel like they're learning something useful.

It'd be some /pol/ shit I guess, because you can't teach any adult logical, rational thinking because "I know better :^)"

Personally I'm conservative liberal/libertarian and live in a fucking socialist euroshithole. So I'd like to redpill about how income taxes are bad, how degenerate is our society, how we should restore death penalty, or other shit like that.

Also recently I had had fun mocking feminazis with #NotAnotherMonster, so perhaps something similar?

Do you think starting off with, "As a matter of fact..." is good, or no?

What's a good opener?
>>
>>29206301
>tfw I would get marked wrong in school for smartass responses to questions like these because people refused then and still refuse now to believe my superior logic.

For example, I would probably argue that the question is ambiguous to the point that you cannot argue Marty did not eat the pizza of a third child in the room, and hence "ate more pizza than Luis". This is because the question does not specifically state "the only pizza Marty and Luis ate was the pizza that belonged to them", nor does it specify Marty ate "more of HIS pizza" rather than just "more pizza".

I would make those kind of responses all the time and teachers just failed to understand where I was coming from. Feelsbadman.
>>
>>29207818

I really disagree with a lot of your positions, so it's hard for me to want to help you find a hashtag to spread your ideas.

For example, I think the death penalty is a terrible idea. I don't see the benefit in it.

To avoid derailing the thread, would you consider starting your own death penalty thread on this board right now? Maybe we could examine the matter there.
>>
>>29207904
Depends on the situation, usually you need to dilly dally around the issue and just hope that the ignorant person will catch the message when you bring up a few contradictions without actually correcting anybody.

Some peope take correcting incorrect information as a personal thing, roughly meaning you are in a way calling them a liar. In their opinion atleast.

You can never directly dismiss their position if you want them to listen to you, in fact, first you might as well try to find something positive about their current point of view, using your oh so unconventional wits and knowledge. After first "agreeing" with them, you can basically go "and better yet" and go on with your point. If you are considered helpful and friendly, they will pretty much at least consider whatever you have to say. It still doesn't mean you can affect them in anyway though.

My normalfag friend told me that people don't have to think about why they hold certain opinions, and that if I question them on their beliefs I make them uncomfortable. It blew my mind. Why would you believe in something if you didn't have some experience that made you believe in it?
>>
>>29206301

1/6 of Luis Pizza remained untouched, so Marty ate it, making him eating 5/6 of a pizza. Then Luis throw up. Marty also ate that, making it 10/6 of a pizza.
In the end, Marty do ate more pizza than Luis.
