I live in an old formerly industrial town in the Greater Boston Area. It's called Lowell, you may have read about it in your middle school history class because it's often called the "Cradle of the American Industrial Revolution".
After the Khmer Rouge and Cambodian Genocide, the town got a huge amount of refugees, so it's literally filled to the brim with Cambodians
The town was a straight shithole for a long time, but it's not that bad anymore, but it still hold the reputation of being dangerous. I once was in Boston and told someone I was from Lowell and h gave me some funny looks and said that I didn't look like the Lowell type (which is probably either an Irish boxer or a Cambodian criminal).
