Rap music originated as a form of music, much like blues, for the lower class African American communities to express their grievances with society as well as boast about the crimes they had committed in order to survive in a highly impoverished area. The term "Rap" originates from Rap Sheet, which details crimes that you have committed. There are a lot of shitty rappers out there, and a lot of good ones. You generally have 3-4 different kinds of rap music:
1. Drill - The stuff murderers listen to. Typically a Chicago/Chiraq scene thing. If you're fake and you 'Drill' you'll probably get killed.
2. Trap - The stuff drug dealers listen to. Typically any area where a dude is pushing quarterbacks, zones, eighths, etc. A bragging of a person's monetary accomplishments in the drug scene
3. Old School - Tupac Shakur, Biggie, DJ Screw, MC Eiht, and other originators of the Rap game. They wanted to use it as an expressive art form for the community.
4. Fake Rap - This is where people like Drake fit in. They are coddled fuckboys who grow up in a largely wealthy area and believe they can just rap and everything's okay, even though they've never LIVED the life.
