most start out with pills. the first 6 or so months are fun because opiates feels amazing and you have enough money to support getting high. you don't get immediately addicted, it's gradual. it's basically like smoking weed at first, except 100x better, and you wonder why anyone actually gets addicted to this stuff, that's not going to happen to you.
then slowly you start noticing you crave the stuff more and more, once every 2 weeks goes to once every week then goes to once every 3 days, etc. eventually you need more and more on top of doing it more frequently to get high, then one day you wake up, feel like shit, you literally need the stuff to function and feel normal. once that happens you're fucked. the money runs out, you lose your job because every day you're withdrawling and can't function, and then you start doing anything you can to get money just to buy stuff and feel normal.
its pretty much the best euphoria you can get, but it's not worth it

When I was a kid my dad, a doctor, told me to ask him anything about drugs, women, or gambling. When I was 14 one of the cool kids (he was 17!) was talking about how good heroin felt.
I asked dad.
