Not much really. Race mixing isn't a big deal around where I live and it's a nice neighborhood (upper middle class) so people aren't gang banging around racial lines or anything. Probably would've been easier to make friends being the same race as other people (You know how in high school alot of Asians hanging out with Asians and etc), but I just developed a likable enough personality to cope, so it worked out in the end.

First off, South Asians aren't Arab. Arab people are located in the Middle East (aka far west Asia) and North Africa. Secondly, what do you mean by pretending to be something else than what you are?
