I haven't used animu wallpapers in years. In fact I don't even use any wallpapers with characters, human or otherwise. Mostly I just use something futuristic or "cyber" looking like fake GUIs, HUDs or laser-grids. But I'm considering a sexy waifu wallpaper to because I'm starting to think I'm turning into a boring guy.

If you can program your own OS or hell, even learn Linux, then you have computer programming skills good enough to get you a job. Even if you don't have a degree, classes would be laughably easy if you already built the skills yourself.
True robots are hopeless NEETs with no marketable skills. We spend our time watching anime, playing video games, and going out of our way to avoid doing or learning anything productive.

Eh, the main issue is I don't really use my computer for anything besides Web browsing and gaming. The only coding I do is C#, Java, Python, and VBA, all of which either require Windows or work just fine with Windows. I just don't see any advantages to making the switch.
To each their own though, I'm really only continuing this argument as an excuse to post more brown girls.

You do realize that a lot of distros are retarded easy to install nowadays specially debian-based ones like Ubuntu or Fedora. (hurururur *dibs*)
And don't forget all the programs that you can run are now also getting easier to install much to the butthurt "le hardcore tru-linux users".

Debian distros already come with a default python interpreter and Linux distros are better set-up for coding and ricing than Windows. But as you said to each his own.
If you can you might try virtualizing or dual-booting just for test-driving. And if you somehow do decide to fully switch to Linux, then you can still virtualize Windows to play games.
Just don't listen to the austistic zealots who'll try to convince you to install Arch. You're bound to get off on the wrong foot. Just start with something beginner-oriented and Windows-like like Ubuntu or in my case, Xubuntu which is lighter on system resources and no tacky extra-features

As I already posted, it's a good environment for experimenting and a good learning tool for beginners since it doesn't feature all the ridiculous restrictions of Windows or OSX. And some other advantages:
>You can update it any time, free of charge
>Easier to rice-out
>If you get tired or unsatisfied for whatever reason with your current distro you can switch to another free of charge (just make sure you back-up your files first).
>More privacy since it's not restricted to bot-netting policies of companies or the NSA, and even if not, you can still hack it to remove monitoring and increase anonymity
