Sometimes it genuinely is a counter-argument. Name-dropping the fallacy responsible for their shitty argument is fast and it saves you time in the likely event they aren't serious but instead trolling.
And let's be honest, arguing on the internet is almost always pointless. How often do you see the argument resolve well, enlightening either the debaters themselves or the audience? Probably not often, right? We're not dealing with Socrates here. You can write out an eloquent, educated response that brings up some excellent points and have it either ignored or flamed by the chucklheads that inhabit the internet.
