He had the sort of skeptical attitude about government and everything really that is becoming increasingly common today. A multi-generational comedian, his sardonically critical view of society should be an inspiration to serious comedians. People want jokes based on the harsh realities no one dares speak of, not simplistic comedy based on little more than the level of Three Stooges slapstick. People are disillusioned today, and the hard truths told right today can produce the best kind of laugh. Just be real about things.
