>tfw finally have enough money to live the rest of my life in a cabin deep in the woods

Surely this is the best feel ever. Looking for land atm. Goal is 10-20 acres with a well, stream and a small cabin or room to build one. Ofc internet is required. Cant wait for the winter when im sitting browsing memes and burning wood in my fire stove.

Anybody else dreaming about this? Scandinavian btw if anybody is during the same thing in scandinavia i could use some tips about gardening etc
>>
Nice, though I would not have chosen something so far away from emergency services. One fire and you could be right fucked.

I'm NEETing it up on the cheap in the suburbs of a small beach town. Comfy.
>>
I share your dream, I would love the hermit life. I live in usa though. How much money did you save up if you don't mind me asking?
>>
Get a cat or you WILL have a rat infestation.
>>
>>29050547
Trade infestation for brain parasites from your cat. Better to get a few dogs. Id get two big dogs for guard dogs or shepherds to protect my chickens and two small ones for rats and frogs, etc. Terriers are made for that, but im partial to Chihuahuas since they make good alarms, and occasionally a good guard against animals bigger than themselves

That cabin looks superb anon. Keep us informed of your progress and congratulations.

If you aren't HIV positive then this isn't an issue.

I envy you. How much have you saved up and how much does a property like that go for in Scandinavia?

Cats are okay, but they'll kill the birds and shit for fun. Then the pretty birds stop going near your property

Not having rodents around is well worth the trade. Especially if you want to grow vegetables.
>>

I hope to be able to do this one day in the US, OP. Not deep in the woods because that's a bit inconvenient for homesteading, but in a fairly isolated rural environment. The northern part of rural Appalachia seems to be a good place for it, Indiana in particular. Good hunting, quality soil, reasonable winters, cheap land, average sun radiation levels unfortunately but still good enough for a few solar panels, relatively low tax burden, and most importantly top tier forest scenery.
>>
>>29050864
That's why you get a dog.
Terriers will exterminate small vermin or fight off bigger animals like giant rats, foxes, even scare off hogs, and alert you to shit like bears/big cats while also not killing and scaring away the pretty birds and owls which kill vermin as well. Terriers will dig rats and groundhogs out of their burrows, they're robust and highly energetic unlike most cats. Live how you want, im just saying if you truly appreciate nature and don't just want to move away because of
>le normies reeeeeee
That the smarter choice is a dog

good luck sempai, probably cost just as much as the cabin and land.
>>29051556
I'm sure that thing isn't totally reliant on the weather being nice and doesn't have shit speeds or anything. also does it even work over several miles?
>>
>>29049130
Don't know about Scandinavia in particular, but is it even legal to make a home with no power or sewage hookup? I know old places can get grandfathered in, but typically you need to make a new place up to code to be allowed to live in (and pay taxes on) it.

Can I come? I want to have a cabin in the Appalachian mountains.

different gear can be effected by rain/fog. 2.4/5/30ghz should be fine though. the nano does 5km I think, they have other stuff that will do 50km+

does it work in hilly terrain covered in trees?

I don't want to live deep int he woods, btu I do want to live maybe 100-500 feet off of the main road in the woods in a clearing so tha tI can be surrounded by the silence of nature.

I really want my home to be peaceful but the modern world to be accessible. No rural shithole with peace and quiet but no rap-blasting main road apartment building either.

honestly this, it is fucking HARD to live out in the genuine wilderness especially up north

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Proenneke

this is one of the most famous guys who did it. he was a master craftsman and a great outdoorsman in general and even he needed to have supplies flown in to him by his friend every few months. have fun suffering from scurvy, rabbit starvation, and any number of illnesses that will arise from your inevitably terrible bushmeat diet OP. just be a normal human being and buy some rural land where you can actually manage to forge a comfortable life for yourself in relative, but not absolute, solitude. no need to live a garbage tier life and likely die out in the middle of nowhere.

That's my plan also, OP. I should have enough saved in 10 years. I'm also a scandifag (Finn), my plan was to pick one of the free plots they give in population-starved areas to get a head start.
