Has anyone actually tried just being themselves? How did it work out?
It does. If you've ever tried being something you're bit like I have, you'd find out that the things you wanted will be more trouble than they're worth because of having to maintain a persona that isn't you. It's better to just be who you are from the beginning and let everything fall into place rather than trying to force it.
"Just be yourself"
What a concept, the mere idea that if you act exactly as you are and become comfortable with the individual you've grown into and become, that someone might find the whole "you" thing attractive and fall in love with what genuinely makes "you" as a person, leading to a full and fulfilling relationship because there are no misunderstandings on who the two of you are?
Nah, couldn't be possible m8
I'm gonna continue my facade and be someone I'm not and keep complaining about why no one loves me

>How did it work out?
I'm on /r9k/.
It carries the implication that you become completely immune to social anxiety and negative judgement from others. Certainly, if this were the case, you'd be happy as fuck, as you would not only be free to live without restraint, but presumably you'd have filtered out your social contacts to only be with those who support you.
Unfortunately those with social anxiety have no chance of pulling this off, so they're left with the misery of compromise or the misery of experiencing the social fallout from being a piece of shit.

Social anxiety is a meme
You're just full of self-loathing and can't be comfortable in your own skin. Stop being so worried about what people will think of you and just be yourself
