Thoughts on Vaporwave?

I dont know why it suddenly got popular, but its really nothing special. Stuff that all the kids are listening to nowadays. Its the next dubstep that all the cool kids are listening, fuck knows why though.
The general mindless people just go with all these trends without thinking about it.
it's interesting desu but I'm not scrounging the net for it anytime soon

Just like any music, basing your opinions of music on genres is stupid. Some songs are good, some are bad.
If it's good, it's good.

I actually enjoy some of it.
It gives me some kind of artificial nostalgia since I was never alive to experience all the capitalist goodness inside of an 80's designed mall.

stale meme
also it was never good, listen to witch house or synthwave
>tfw I listen to things like retrowave and vaporwave for nostalgic reasons despite not being alive in the 80's/early 90's
It just represents a better time to me. Before all this social media shit. When the Internet was still just IRC and BBS. 9/11 didn't happen yet so the future still had a chance of being optimistic. It was easy to imagine a good future. There were problems, of course, and the Soviet Union was still around, but it was just so easy to imagine the 21st Century being a time of advancement and wonder. A new era where peace was achieved through technology.
I wish I could've experienced it...
Vaporwave isn't about criticising capitalism to me. It's an attempt to capture the old days. To have just one more experience of the days before the eternal war we're now in. To the days before it all went to Hell.
At least, I like to think of it that way.

>before the eternal war
Nigga there was no 'before'
We've always been at war, life itself is war

I grew up in the 80s, but I'm only vaguely nostalgic about it, since I prefer to the original songs, instead of some 14 year old who re-edits and filters them. But some stuff is pretty stimulating both audio/video as link above.
I actually prefer synth wave or whatever it's called. Basically kids using old synth sounds to re-enact musical pieces that remind you of the background music of 80s action/sci-fi films.
