I've got a confederate flag hanging on my wall, but in the end, you have to admit that the Union were the good guys, and that in the end the Civil War was about a bunch of rich southern landowners and politicians forcing a bunch of farmboys to fight their fellow Americans so they could keep European autocracy alive in America.

No, The Union was trying to keep America, and the democracy America symbolised to the entire world alive. If the CSA ceded from the Union, the world would have been all the worse for it.
You can't really come into a thread started with a picture of Columbia and expect not to be called out for going against everything 19th Century America stood for.

The only good Elizabeth did was ending the Tudor line and giving James I the throne.

>we have to preserve ( ( Democracy ) ) by forcing the goyim to obey us

Fuck democracy senpai.

But state and individual rights were and are one of the most important aspects of American culture.

The US basically seceded from Britain; it was kind of hypocritical for the North not to let the South do the same thing.

And in the 19th century the US wasn't a world superpower yet. It was mostly neutral in world affairs.

"Freeing the slaves" was just an altruistic excuse. It works the same today, politicians and the media abuse racial issues all the time for money.

Ever since America broke free from Britain and became a democracy it was a symbol of hope for the rest of the world that still suffered under Tyranny, from the French, to William Blake and many of the Europeans in 1848. If Americans let their nation commit suicide and allow the South to form their own oligarchy, they would be spitting in the face of the founding fathers and the rest of the world.

It's true that the blacks weren't the first thing they were thinking about in the 1700 and 1800s when Americans declared individual rights were all important, but by 1860 it was very different. Sure, most Americans mightn't have liked blacks, especially in the South were the practice of slavery was hurting the poor farmers that made up most of the states population but were politically and socially controlled by aristocratic landowners. But they recognised that freedom to all meant meant all men, even if they were black.

Look where we are now though. Maybe it was a good thing to be the ones on top, anon.
