Yea, gave up coming to /r9k/ a long time ago. The place is just so toxic and detrimental to your mental well-being. So glad I stick with the hobby boards now, haven't been back in months.

Was good as a source on motivation/inspiration while losing >100lb. Then I realised that once looking normal I no longer wanted to do more than stay normal. The level of autism that goes into looking swole (without godly genetics) eclipses even here.

Every few weeks my annoyance at /tg/ builds up to the point where I need a break from it. Easily the most autistic, triggerable board I go on.
That's it really. I only ever really browsed /b/ /r9k/ and /tg/. I mean I've looked at other boards but don't really like them.

I gave up on /lit/
They cant discuss books. It's impossible for them. If you make a thread about any work of literature that isnt Joyce, Pynchon, or DFW they just ignore you. If you try to prompt a discussion they accuse you of posting homework questions. They all talk about philosophy but cant even use correct terminology. They all post shitty, shitty writing and ask for critique but then quickly add "I wrote this in five minutes" or "it's kind of shit" -- if you know it's shit and dont care about it why should anyone bother critiquing it?!
It bothers me that people call /lit/ the smartest board. They're just the board with the greatest sense of self importance.

Pretty sure that's done ironically. All I've ever heard from people that browse it are your same complaints, and I'm sure anyone that genuinely believes it's the smartest board wouldn't go browsing boards like /r9k/ or /b/ just to shitpost about it.

I'd liked to get to know how /b/ was like in it's great times.
I stopped going to /adv/ because it was just too damn depressing. I used to like to try and help people but it seemed more like people didn't ever want help they just wanted pity.
I also stopped going to /tv/ because it just felt like a celebrity gossip and shitpost board. The "general" threads there are like 9 layers deep in their own levels of inside jokes and memes that even trying to get into a normal discussion is pushed aside for people to pose more "memes".
I truly feel like, at the moment, r9k is the best board out there, even if we don't really use it for it's original purpose.
We aren't flooded with memes, the threads are more than a "LOL ROLL FOR TWO SAME NUMBERS" and idk, it is confy. If i had to trust someone from a board, it'd probably be someone from here.
Also, lately we have had great threads. Escortbro, Robbie Rock... and the "Malebots ask fembots/Fembots ask malebots" threads are not-so-bad.
At the moment this is my "main" board.

/v/ is obvious. its just constant shitposting about fotm games/consoles and there are people who get so mad and argue you over the tiniest semantic. I left after /vg/ was created.
used to frequent /fa/ when I had autism bux rolling in and wasn't skinnyfat. I got fat and it's depressing to browse when you have no money.
I stopped browsing /r9k/ when it was constant whining and and green text stories over >tfw no gf, basically /adv/-lite before /adv/ was added. It's not so bad now as long as I don't browse it constantly like before when it pure cancer.

/vp/ - There's only so much you can say about one game before all that's left is poorly disguised fap threads. Also my passion for the game has significantly dropped.

In my opinion, /r9k/ is the best non-specific board for a few reasons:
1.) Pace is alot slower than /b/, so you can walk away from a thread and come back an hour or so later and still find it live
2.) The catalog let's you get some sort of closure especially if the thread was exceptional and you can enjoy past threads
3.) Less memes in general so that means I don't need 10 filters hiding 20 threads like I do on /b/
4.) You can connect on a more visceral level with other anons then on other boards
5.)The Robot may not spur originality, but it does prevent repetitiveness, which prevent's memes from overtaking the board (e.g. This is the pupper of big dicks. Big dicks and cummies will grace you, but only if this thread gets 300 of the same exact replies)
