Its all about impressing other norms
The fun part is nobody knows its an actual rolex until they are inspect it or you tell them, and even then they probably just assume its a chinese bootleg.

If you're super rich then who gives a shit, people know its real but you're still stupid for buying a $10,000 trinket. But I've met average people who actually finance these things.

Name matters because rich people make it matter. Get a bunch of rich people to agree that your name brand is worth more and you can mark up your price by 10,000% as long as you keep it out of the hands of the poor so the rich owners feel special. You aren't paying $10,000 for a watch, you are paying $10,000 for a membership card to the rolex club. Unless you are poor, then it doesn't matter if you have a rolex, your membership is void because you can't back it up by being rich.
>>
>>29027429
>Unless you are poor, then it doesn't matter if you have a rolex, your membership is void because you can't back it up by being rich.

But then you can be part of the poor people with a rolex club who look down on poor people who don't have one

The Rolex model there is far and away the best of those three. Swiss watch companies love to inflate the shit out of their prices just because they're Swiss though.

>>29027429
Genuinely wealthy people consider Rolex to be babby's first watch. It's only a mark of status to """rich""" businessmen and regular people.
>>
>>29027568
Because a quartz movement watch is literally better in every single way, watches that last just as long can be had for 100 times less, and you only have it so that you can say you have it.

The movement of the rolex is way better. It doesn't justify the price but it's not crazy expensive compared to other brands who sell watches at the price.

You're not wrong but no one buys a watch for practicality. Its an accessory and it actually makes a person more attractive, depending on which watch is being used.

I own an Omega and it is not 100% accurate, it costs 6 thousand dollars, and it has scratches on the bracelet. But why? Because it gives status, pride (I bought with my own hard earned money and I had my eye on the watch for a while now), and a sense of prestige... that you actually work for a living.

I also own a G-Shock that costs 120 dollars. It is highly accurate, non-expensive, but I will never wear it to an evening out.

Get it? Its just a matter of personal taste.
