I tried the f2p a few years backs and enjoyed it, but once I hit level 20 I didn't really bother continuing anymore. I remeber my friend said his Dad worked at Jagex so he had a private server for runescape and he would go around killing Varrock guards and do damage up 56 or some shit.
From what I remember WoW has a immense map and storyline quests, and a good tetting based on raiding and dungeon crawling, I'm not saying I would dismiss that but how much time do you spend grinding killing whatever creatures get in your paths, that is what really made me stop playing runescape and will stop me from playing pretty much any MMORPG.
All I'm thinking is have a server in which I can set the levels for my character so I can complete quests and whatever without having to grind to the max.

Best expansion for every person is so easy...
#1. The expansion they started playing from release. If they started mid TBC, WotLK will be best because they played from the start. If they started mid-vanilla, TBC will be best.
#2. The expansion immediately following their favorite followed closely by the one preceding it (if there is one).
#3. The expansion 2 after their favorite, the point where they really started losing interest in the game, started noticing everything Blizzard was doing wrong and ruining the game, catering to casuals, taking away all uniqueness.
#4+ Every other expansion after that is shit and ruined the game. If if they started later (like started in MoP) then everything before the expansion right before their favorite is horrible and unplayable (They didn't even have group finder or auto-teleporting to dungeons in vanilla and TBC don't you know???)
Then there's all the vanilla kids who are nostagia'ing hard. They think nothing could every top vanilla for prime game play, yet really they are just seeing the whole thing with rose colored glasses. They can't remember all the shitty mechanics and bugs in vanilla and early expansions, all they can remember is doing their 40man raids with all their online friends as their naive 14 year old self. When they finally get the opportunity to play on a true vanilla p-server 90% of them remember it isn't the game that changed, is what they find fun that has changed, it's that all the friends they played with aren't around anymore that's changed. They come to the hollow realization that that time in their lives is never coming back and they realize how dumb it would be for Blizzard to have legacy servers.

I spent all of 2015 playing that. Then I realised I was spending most of my time mining while watching netflix. Which is pointless because you can buy like a billion isk for 30 bucks. As for the pvp, it was basically being yelled at by nerds whilst in a blob racking up billions of isk in kills. Just got sick of the whole deal.

FF14 is the weirdest MMO. There's so many cool things about the game, but it's impossible to play it for extended periods of time because of how repetitive and boring it gets.
Being able to switch classes on the fly. Cool! Being forced to level all the alt classes by doing endless FATE spam. Boring as fuck!
Cool and involved crafting system. Cool! Almost everything you craft is literally vendor trash if it's not an NPC turn in. Boring as fuck!
High movement, bullet-hell type encounters that punish even a single person dying. Cool! Even a slight gear increase makes the encounter stupidly easy to the point where you can basically ignore all the cool mechanics. Boring as fuck!
Amazing art and design, gear that looks exactly as you'd expect from the FF art team. Cool! Everyone looks exactly the same within a month of new content release. Boring as fuck!

MoP was pretty cool, but at that point I was kind of done with everything.
I think the beginning of MoP was a step in the right direction and definitely a favorable experience compared to the previous expansion, though Cata had its own charm in terms of PvP.
MoP was furfaggotry and the endgame was shit and so was Wotlk endgame. I was on a RP server and goddamn all the special snowflakes rolled pandas. BC and Cata had the only decent endgame and content before it started rolling downhill.

the leveling through fates is what got me, well that and the actually fun MSQ being interrupted because of level restrictions on quests and having to grind 2 levels in dungeons and fates just to continue it.
It's fun, but even though I have so much time on my hands I can't devote my time to it and go full poopsock mode. I didn't even make a single friend in game despite playing for months.

The community was kind of shittacular. You had people who were hardcore as fuck, would bitch and complain at people who missed a single mechanic but weren't much better themselves. Then you had the other end of the spectrum with people who would stand in literally everything like it was their job and fail to do any basic mechanic necessary to finish an encounter so they usually just ended up off-tanking the floor every encounter.
It also seemed kind of asocial the whole time. No one every talked unless it was to explain mechanics. It was like everyone was playing in single player and all the other players were just NPCs they had to escort through the dungeons. Unless you were in a decently active guild that did more than raiding it was a pretty lonely experience.
