Most of my 5-6k mmr friends who went to LoL got Challenger or high diamond at least. There are also stories of high mmr people in DotA 2 who switched to LoL and went pro, but none vice-versa.
However, judging both games by non-mechanical and purely decision making aspects, they're pretty similar as all mobas are.
