Yeah, it's not just infecting lets plays now but stuff like vlogging. I remember when lets plays used to be walkthroughs that showed off secrets and easter eggs, or they used to be blind playthroughs where you see a person's first reaction to a game and watch them fall for a game. Either way, they were long, drawn out game playthroughs.
Now its quick 10 minutes of the latest indie game fad with someone screaming at the screen. It didn't even get like that once google came along and money got involved, I remember some early 2010s stuff at least being adult. I'd say around 2013 or so it started to be geared towards kids, around the time the featured channel section REALLY got flooded with lets players and they changed how the search algorithm worked from what was most relevant to most popular.
