Need a bigger carrot.
30k cash for completing high-school
50k if you complete it with good grades
100k if you complete it with perfect grades

>>
>>29012624
so you're suggesting that high school pretty much stays the same

okay...

the problem obviously lies in grade school/middle school. mathematics is taught at 0.5x the speed it should be taught at, and there's so much redundant bullshit. I've taken world history 4 times (grade school social studies, middle school world history, high school world history, high school AP european history and US history)
>>
>>29012745
And integrate it into high schools?

>How to fix US high schools:
For all non-remedial students, replace 3/4 of classes with team projects oriented around work experience (for profit or not), scholarship, design/art, and physical activity. Students are placed in teams of 3-5 at the beginning of each semester, they choose a project in each category, and work on it for a semester. They give regular updates and turn in a final report/presentation/physical object. Grading is mixed group/individual.

The idea is to teach people how to learn from their experiences and their colleagues, rather than teaching content.

You do realise some people like to take a break to travel after graduating, right?
>>
>>29016651
Not him, but...it does. You probably haven't studied language, etymology and the like enough to appreciate this, but believe me when I say that this is true: it matters.

The degradation of language is not simply the degradation of style or propriety. It is the degradation of society's ability to think. The more that we collapse nuanced ideas into singular terms that express a watered-down version of many similar-yet-different things, the more we simplify language for the sake of convenience, the more we just don't care, the closer we get to being unable to express certain things, and thus to being unable to think them.

When one generation stops using proper grammar and vocabulary to convey an idea, relying instead upon the faith that the person being spoken to knows what it is that is being (half-assedly)conveyed, that laziness only succeeds in communicating the idea because both parties previously had a notion of the idea. After a few generations of that, without the actual words and sentence structures expressing that idea being in the grand dialogue, the idea itself is lost because people never think it to begin with, and if they do, they have no means of expressing it.

You are doing a disservice to a dialogue that has been ongoing for 250 millennia. Yes, languages evolve, but there is a difference between expanding the ability to express thought and narrowing it through laziness.
>>
the problem is funding and results. results on paper make kids look retarded (because they are) but the societal solution is to blame the schools

not everyone is a fucking genius. some people have to fail a standardized school created to let everyone have a non back breaking occupation

>2 years sport
no ty
>3 years social sciences
4 minimum, and expand the options to include econ, psych, other electives
>1 year fine arts
no, replace this with 1 year philosophy
>1 year how the world fucking works
what is this shit, no

real solution: allow students to specialize in natural sciences, social sciences, arts, etc.
also how does this shit not include 4 years of foreign language
>>
>>29016843
>4 years of english
Yeah, nah.
i had to do four years of english and it was far from applicable, the entirity of my last year of english was just creative writing, poetry, a novel study and shakespeare, all of which Id done the year before, and the year before and the year before, after that I just switch to fucking communications which is just the actually fucking applicable parts of english.
All the actually useful skills for people who dont plan to pursue anything related to english can be taught in 2 years, easily.

Terrible idea
The problem with schooling is the idea that everyone learns the same way at the same pace combined with the idea that one size fits all for education.
You're just taking that to 11.
You want to "fix" schools?
Stop focusing on education that anything past 'I can read and write at 6th grade, make change, and know my colors' matters to more than 10% of any fucking body.
As someone who left school a long time ago, let me clue you in
Other than universities, NO ONE gives a fuck what your GPA was in public school and NO ONE gives a fuck if you were valedictorian.
Ever.
UNIVERSITIES don't give a fuck about that shit if you live an actual life.
>Guy that graduated college with me had a 2.1 GPA in HS, no extra-curriculars. He went into the army for 4 years and did Intelligence work.
>Boom! Accepted into any school he wanted without SAT or ACT scores
All that math?
Fuck you. Most people will never, ever need anything more complex than basic geometry and Algebra 1. Ever. And more than 1/2 of you forget that shit by the age of 20, anyway.

Science? Bullshit. A unit in social studies on the scientific method and one freshman level class is plenty for most people.

Instead of your 'sit at a desk and get good grades!' fuckery, get people into part time jobs, get them vocational training, and get them out of the classroom.
>>
>>29012624
>>mandatory 8 classes must be offered per year
Way more Than that are typically offered. Most people only take 6-7 though, which means people who do poorly at the beginning can take 8 classes yearly to catch up, if they so choose.
>>4 years of math (with a senior "why math doesn't suck" class to get misfits inspired)
Algebra 1 level matg is being taught in elementary schools now. (because of common core) More math is unnecessary
>>4 years of science (same deal)
Again, useful, but unnecessary for daily life. (L4 years of science should, of course, be available, but making it required would just lower graduation rates. Chad doesn't want to know Physics, so he'd just ditch it.
>>2 years of English (one reading and one writing class)
English class is typically more about grammar than anything else. And English, both written and read, is used daily. (You wrote this, did You do algebraic equations today?)
>>3 years of computers
Computers as in programming? Really unnecessary, but many schools offer programming classes now. Making it mandatory would mean that obnoxious black kids would constantly be watching porn durring class while other's actually work.
>>2 years of a single sport (can be waived for after school participation)
Literally, why? That's blatant discrimination against handicapped people, and it isn't any more academically relevant than PE is.
>>3 years of social sciences (world history, u.s. history, gubment)
Is already required in most schools
>>1 year of fine arts
Fine arts like drawing? Or like playing an instrument? Either way, it's irrelevant to the life of the average worker.
>>1 year of how the world fucking works
One year of meme magic? Or one year about how the Illuminati runs the world and the Jews run the Illuminati?
>>10 elective credits
That's 2 semester elective classes. And fine arts give elective credits, under most systems, at leasts.
>>Before graduation, the student must have proof of a job or college acceptance
Literally, why?
>>
>>29017521
It's not east to get a job in school because you're unable to work most hours (because you're at school, and can't leave until you find a job) Your system would have people in their mid 20's still im Highschool.

And IDGAF about what classes you liked or disliked in school. Not everyone is you, so please don't try to force your life down our throats
>>
>only 2 years of ""English""

Bullshit. Keep it 3 - 4 years of actual literature and grammar skills plus vocabulary, and 4 to 3 yard of history and political works.
>>
Why not just stop all publicly funded education? If it requires a law to make people go to school it can't be that good of an idea. People who want to learn will go to private schools provided they have parents who let and pay for them to go. Overnight the nigger problem is solved and schools can be a place of learning instead of a babysitter/ersatz prison.

I was home schooled, and even then my parents didn't do much besides ask me if I studied. I basically just did whatever I wanted so I dicked around the library and surfed the web. No formal structure whatsoever, yet I turned out alright. It's because I'm better than most people. You can't polish a turd into a diamond and you can't neglect a diamond into a turd. Blank slate is bullshit. You're either born a winner or a loser and personally I'm sick of all the fucking losers not only getting in my way but also thinking they deserve to even live. You can't tell me we're equal when I got my BS on academic scholarship and grants despite being white and male yet there are others without even an Associates and struggling to find work in a warehouse or mcdonald's.

Seriously, if I could, I would each and very single one of you the middle finger.

I'd actually just punch the shit out of you, you fat fucks. You deserve it for being a nation built on EVIL.

You have estrogen in your water for fucks sake.

And yet, you have THE FUCKING GALL TO CALL CANADA AN "IRELEVANT" COUNTRY?

FUCK YOU.

If I could run across a football field and punch all of you in the fucking face, really fucking hard, I would.

Yes you fat fucks, in the superior country of CANADA, we can run the length of a field due to having fitness standards.

Also all of your women are slutty as fuck.

In Canada, our women are raised with traditional values. They could also beat the fuck out of yours too, due to all your women being fat as fuck, or small and slutty, making them mobile/easy to carry as they go around fucking everything in sight, as typical with American women.

A nations values are based on how strong our family values are; and evidently with divorce being as high as it is in USA, you people are a ruinous country.

Have fun sucking your governments dick while Canadians continue to excel.

Lol fuck America, and fuck all the Americans reading this comment.

You are all high octane cancer.

You fat fucks are more harmful for the planet than the last 20 war lingering civilizations combined.

When we start to colonize space, don't be surprised when the superior CANADIAN military gets the jump on you and destroys you in the void of space.

We'll inherit the galaxy while you stay on the earth, getting fatter and sluttier.

Haha, stupid fat ass Americans.

Get fucked.

If any of you came to Canada, I'd fuck you up, bitch.

English is taught very poorly these days. They stop teaching it formally after like the fourth grade, and just practice styles of writing.
In highschool, I had a teacher try to give me 60s for a character analysis because it didn't agree with what her answer guide said. I ended up having to take it to the head of the English department, because the teacher had no ability to think critically.
>>

>4 years government
covering federal, state, local governments, international relations, voting, evaluating candidates, identification of key policy issues, and examples of successful governing from any part of the world.

>4 years english
covering style (as in punctuation, page layout, using word processors, and such), with lots of reading practice, talk-to-the-text practice, practice identifying important parts in reading, lots of practice developing, sorting, and getting thoughts onto paper (in the form of writing short arguments about the reading based on observations from the reading), and lots of practice rewriting and editing previous work. No essays will be written, but examples of good essays will be studied.

I'm not too sure about the rest.

>4 years technology
lots of practice google searching. safe browsing practice. practice keeping an organized file system. basic understanding of computers, networking, and security.

>4 years science
mostly human biology and behavior. how the body works. how to keep it healthy.

We need four years of something to develop problem solving skills. I'm not sure what the best topic is for that. Math? Programming?

Maybe this isn't really grammar, but I have doubts about English. For one, what's the point of capitalization? What is the point of having words for numbers (e.g., "two" for "2")? When are they going to fix the alphabet and spelling? What's the point of putting ' in contractions (e.g., "can't" instead of "cant").

To me, there's a lot of junk in English that needs to be cleaned up.

There is a new class that's coming out next year called AP Capstone, which is basically what you described. (Groups get together and research for the year, then deliver a presentation)
