I've given in to the compulsive desire to see whores and smoke weed far too much.
After I stumbled on rubmaps about 2 months ago my life became a high octane, drug and alcohol frenzied blur of hedonism and numbness. It's wrecked my finances, and if I intend to move out by January of next year, I need to stop NOW.
How do I keep myself off the junk and teach myself proper self-control?

I had a similar problem except I was seeking out encounters online for tgirls to blow me off.. I was a route driver for work and would go between stops and do the deed. It was a cycle of get blazed search online for ever reading ads until that didn't get me aroused anymore until eventually I started replying, usually flaking but that did it for me for a while. And then I actually started doing it, going out during my work hours and meeting for bjs.. most were 420 friendly so I would be smoking with them and getting off.. that did it for a while then even that got boring, I had to watch porn while it happened and I didn't even realize what I was doing to myself.
I finally got caught by my wife because as it turns out traps can be nuts and got extra attached to me and decided to tell my wife and like email my family and shit.
Family didn't really care, but they were kind of bummed I'd do that to my wife. And my wife was terribly hurt..
I decided to stop.looking at porn all together and smoke no weed to try to break the cycle.. I did alot of meditating and self realization, thinking about my problem as an addiction to stimulation and novelty. This helped alot for me to pinpoint why I felt the need to do it and how I could stop the urges before they became the search and stimulate cycle again.
It helps to have a goal in mind and really focus on many ways to achieve it to keep yourself busy and rebuild your habits. This kind of thing happens to alot of people, so don't think it's some special thing you will never over come.
Almost 1.5 years later me and wife are very happy, much closer and very active sexually. We are moving ahead in life and achieving the goals we set out to. And I don't feel the urges I used to, I realize that they are bad and unhealthy before they even have a chance to affect me.
Remember this.. we have very little control in our lives, we all have weird thoughts and ideas, but what control we do have is of our actions..

Try looking into thrill seeking addiction and sexual addiction.. you may not feel that if your affliction but it has alot of helpful information into gaining discipline over these urges
