I don't think I'll ever stop enjoying it. I've played OOTP since pre-Steam days, probably spent the most time in OOTPX back in around 2009.
Right now I'm using the HTML editor to add my own historical scenario: Germany and Russia team up during WWII and take over all of Europe. New city names, logos based on Nazi/USSR crest of arms, the whole shebang. I'm even able to create a name list with frequency for the fictionally generated players, so a lot of them will be named Adolf and Joseph.

Have you played any semi-multiplayer games? I find them the easiest to motivate me to play.
What I mean is, I don't really like multiplayer games because it's just stressful and frustrating. I don't like singleplayer games because they're pointless.
However I really like playing fighting games and going into training mode just to learn new combos and resets. It has the value that you get good and can body people online, without having to actually play with other people. It gives singleplayer gaming a purpose past just the experience alone.
I guess I like to manage things. I own other games, but I don't want to play Fallout or Skyrim on a crappy 4-year-old mid-range laptop.

What games do you play? SFV is probably the easiest fighting game as of now. Easy combos and a lot of casual players. Haven't played it in a while though so the casual players might have moved on.
Also I forgot to mention it before, but I find Dark Souls to also have some of these qualities, so it could be of interest if you don't play it already. You can make a SL1 character and then invade low level players. I don't really find crushing noobs to be all that fun but just the validation I get from being able to do something others can't is enough reason to push me to keep going.

Mostly SFV, and rarely SF4 and older games from time to time. I played it at launch and it was really fun, getting good matches and getting the feeling of improvement.
After I stopped for a bit going back made me feel much worse and I couldn't tell how much of it was me getting worse or the players of my level not playing anymore. now I just hop from character to character, they're all fun to play but after losing too much on one I blame the character and try to learn another and never get good
