I thought it was common courtesy to buy tickets for whoever you're inviting to the movies. My friends and I do this for each other. The dude that invites pays, even for dinner or food or whatever. It seems rude to say: "hey wanna come to the movies?" and then finish it with basically "purchase your own damn ticket". I'm probably austistic though so i'm probably wrong.

Just occurred to me maybe you meant buy her tickets because there is allocated seats in your country and you would go to the cinema or buy online early to get decent ones. That's fair. Ask her what I said about and add "let me know I'll grab you a seat and you can buy me a drink after" or "and you can pay me back later"

This is how people interact. People will respect you more if you are not giving shit away for free. It's fine to do a favor but it's also more than fine to expect to be paid back.
Here is an exception. If she replies along the lines that she does sound genuinely interested but is actually broke as many young people are, then up to you if you want to shout her. If she's a decent person she will do exactly that, but some people are shitty and you will learn what she is. And learning that for just the cost of a cinema tickets tis well worth it imo
