I grew up on my Dads old books, commando comics, old war movies and Band of Brothers and all the WW2 shooters of the millenium so part of me pretty much worships the Allies but honestly if the world of 1939 could see a weeks worth of our 24 hour news channels I'm certain WW2 would never have happened at all.

I've studied him quite a bit, particularly his childhood, teenage years and early 20s. I posted a bunch of threads here with quotations about his personality during this periods.
He was obviously a very passionate person, which I admire about him. He was also quite rigid when it came to morality, ambitious, and and was stubbornly individualistic, even in the face of poverty and loneliness. He loved his mother and his behaviour towards her, especially when she became ill, proved he was a very loyal son. These things I relate to and respect.
He was however rather easily deluded, particularly by ideologies which today would be defined as "New Age". His understanding of race was largely based on pulp novels, mystical writing and racist propaganda. However I believe he only became a racist in Vienna during the period in which he became homeless. Before that point he had been very kind to his family's physician, Dr. Bloch, and had sold his artwork and otherwise had business dealings with Jewish dealers.
I think he and H.P. Lovecraft are quite similar in mentality, though Hitler I believe is more emotional and romantic than Lovecraft, who was more detached and analytical in my opinion.
I don't agree with everything he believed or did but he's a great symbol for nationalism. 14/88 lads
