I went through a period towards the end of high school where I started to become moderately popular and sort of well received.
I went to the bank and was treated as though I was important and respectable. There was a girl who I would frequently see as I walked through the town and we would hug and she was excited to see me. I had some friends at school, some teachers started to like me. I was making people laugh.
Then all of the sudden one day I was riding my bike to the fitness center and saw that girl who I always bugged and she was cold towards me but kind of looked like she was embarrassed to be seen with me. When I told her where I was headed she said "Oooh Kayy" and sort of laughed to herself and looked a bit disgusted and like she was calling me a loser without saying it.
I returned to the bank and everyone there who had formerly greeted me warmly was very cold and mean looking and avoided me or was short with me.
Formerly friendly classmates distanced themselves from me and some who looked at me just gave me contemptuous looks, like "What are you looking at? Don't look at me".
Neighbors just stared blankly at me they saw me. Peoplel at stores began to stare at me with disgust. People at the park did the same. A girl from school who called me stopped calling. A former teacher from elementary school saw me and just looked at me with contempt.
Only ones who stuck by me were my dogs. Don't know what the fuck happened. Ten years later still the same. Going to kill myself soon.

It might be a single event. I was very suprised when I saw the huge change in attitude of a woman at work after I told her I started smoking at 15 (I've quit now, but i'm classified as "poor, antisocial, whatever").
People are very shallow and given that it's a small town it could be something minor.
Also it could be just your imagination or the fact that nowdays you're freaked out so people feel uncomfortable around you.
I highly suggest visiting a shrink to make sure you're ok.

It's likely that OP started exhibiting subtle indicators of a manifesting mental illness or something.
People's reactions to him were definitely subconscious like the way you can feel "off" about someone. Even if he asked one of his former friends why they suddenly hated him, they probably wouldn't be able to give an answer. Social judgments are almost entirely based on things we don't consciously notice about people.

I didn't even know at the time, but in hindsight I realized there was. I downloaded that shit on KaZza when I was 13 and didn't even know what Pedoblabla.wmv meant at the time. It was just a girl roughly my age who I found attractive.
But in hindsight I can now pin together certain events and shifts in behavior where people might have found out and where people copied my whole porn folders on LAN where there was porn on it from 7 years back including the file that I had already forgotten about.

Yeah I had this happen. What hapens is people start talking shit about you, some may make up a lie or two and you're dead. Its really painful but you come to a point where you have to not base your self image on other people. Its probably a stupid small town and you can start over when you move. One time at a Catholic school, a girl who was the daughter of the office attendant was flirty with me. The woman was very friendly with me and looked at me like an angel.
