>>
I don't get sports either, it's like it's all the same. Once you've seen one great catch/throw/dunk/goal you've seen them all
>>
>>28974839
Nope
>>28974868
Why not work on yourself instead of watching rich people throw balls around hell read a book that would be a better use of everyone time.
>>
>>28974899
Honestly I didn't get sports for a long time. I thought they were stupid things only normalfags watch. But once you get emotionally invested in a team you can find it entertaining.
>>
>>28974931
Why would reading a book be better?

Is this a trick question?

No. Why would that make a difference?

>humor

It's mainly just angry whining.
>>
>>28974967
R9k is less funny than women
>>
>watching sports doesn't benefit you at all.
But watching anime and playing vidya 10 hours a day does, right?
>>
>>28974999
Because you'd be enjoying a source of media that requires effort from the audience rather than blindly vegetating in front of an LED screen watching other people go out and be active

Never understood watching sports, why don't you go out and just play the sport? I could care less how other people spend their time though it's not my concern

You mean the humor that is mostly taken from other boards and condensed into one giant shit smoothie? Because the only unique "humor" on this board is shit like wagecuck threads and braaaaaap posting, all of which are always just repeats of the previous thread.
>>
>>28975054
Lol so you can't even say why reading a book is better. Typical.

Book can teach you things about life from how to build a house to how to cook a meal. It can also change your view in life have you never read a book anon?

If you plan on writing a book or making a Webcomic then yes it does help.
>>
>>28975081
Books can also be hate speech, or about farts. Great use of time.
>>
>>28975081
Why read a book about life when you could live life instead?
>>
>>28975087
No, you didn't give me a reason.

I think if you allow yourself to get absorbed in the drama of sports, you can really start enjoying it. Seeing the teams you like win and lose is a real investment and when it pays off the rush is something else. I don't care about sports but being a Dota fan and rooting for my team has certainly given me a newfound look on the topic. I can see why some people are so passionate about the games.
>>
I get sports and enjoy them but I see why people can dislike them. You can easily argue that people are being cucked when they watch rich uber Chads being wrshipoed

Read informational books.
>>28975130
It's never useless to learn about other people it helps you from falling in the same potholes they fell in.

Oh but it is useless to learn about sports? Seems like you have arbitrary lines

Why would I do that though? They're a bunch of douchebags who have no relevance to my life whatsoever. There's nothing relateable about them in any way.

It's never ending what's the point. At least with the olympic it comes every few years and the best of the best show up to honor the whole country.
>>
>>28975327
It's like a TV series. Each contest is a new season. I would say if anything that the fact that it never ends is part of what makes it so appealing. It's an addiction to the games, you are always tense about how your team is doing even if it has absolutely no bearing on your life.

Name one thing that you benefit from watching sports besides filling up chads wallet. At least with watching anime or reading comic you development some sort of taste for things.
>>
If you want to abstract it, it's no different from any other thing that we like to watch- films, tv shows, etc. We like to watch others compete as much as we ourselves like to. That's not a bad thing. I would rather watch sports than get involved in most tv shows.
>>
Ever been to /sp/? Complete autists like watching sports too. When you are a neet it fills a void in your life. It gives you something to look forward to for the next day. Best yet it gives you yet another topic to argue about with people on the Internet.

I don't care if they are richer, more athletic, and better looking than me. I don't live vicariously through them like some do. I am happy with my own life as pathetic as most people would judge it to be. I just want to see them win it for my city.

/r9k/ hear me out the same people who you cheer for are the same chads who bullied you in school and his fans were the hinchman who helped yet you still idolized these people really why?
>>
>>28974833
they just like thinking "that could be me"

it's why normies are so baffled that robots aren't worshipping chad they think we should just project onto him or something

I understand the cheering for the home team part it's the cheering for other teams I don't get. And the normies seem to know every person from every team for some stupid reason can someone explain this to me?
>>
>>28975489
Chads didn't bully me though, they were either benevolent or completely unaware of my existence. Most bullies were people who were just as low as me in social status and used it to make themselves feel superior to someone, anyone.

I was friends with most of the jocks. They're generally nice guys. Some assholes but those guys usually played lacrosse and barely made it through college and still think they're on top of the world.
>>
>>28975531
I only cheer for other teams when mine gets eliminated from the playoffs. There are always ones you hate so you'll cheer for other teams to beat those teams too. You can sometimes admire and respect how other teams play, but you still want to see your team beat them.

On a national level ESPN and shit like that encourages bandwagoning and sucking superstar dick. Casuals get swept up in that nonsense.
>>
>>28975531
It's definitely not normal to know every player, but in sports like basketball where there's only 15 players on the team, and only 12 actually get playing time, it's easy. I like to follow almost every team at least a little bit because of the strategy element of sports.

There's drama in sports. There's competition in sports. Excitement and inspiration in sports(for some). Most "hobbies" are mental time sinks, that have no benefits to the person, other than emotional simulation. I love reading a book, but I don't think am bettering myself anymore than the guy watching sports all day, by reading the admitted trash that I read. It's a false equivalency, depending on what you read. Also knowing a little about things that everyone else is into, is not a bad thing. Sports are an immediate ice breaker and common ground for most men around the world. Helps in all kinds of social interactions. I'm not even really in to watching games personally, but I do enjoy stats and history, and the smug look I give when i btfo a meat head with my encyclopedic like knowledge.
