Because every generation turns more and more liberal, which means a larger and larger government. This trend will continue until the hope for a libertarian government is completely gone (implying it isn't already)
Right now voting libertarian is throwing your vote away because the party is a mess.
The only smartest thing a libertarian in America can do right now is to vote republican, who sorely need their votes, to try and slow down and potentially reverse the quickly expanding government, giving the libertarian party some more time to try and get its shit together and stop being such a joke. In its current state a libertarian vote might as well be a democrat vote since that's what the new generations are all being brainwashed into by default. The most logical and best choice for a libertarian this election is to vote Republican.
