The gamecube may not have been the most powerful console but that was the era when Nintendo most definitely had the strongest games (well, wither that era or the NES 64 era I guess, it's debatable)
with wind waker, smash melee, animal crossing, metroid prime, kirby air ride.... it's just not comparable imo

There was this strange part late in the N64 cycle when the console was 'dying' yet would get one amazing fucking game each month. I remember reading some multiformat game magazine at teh time and it was becoming a running joke that the one N64 game they'd review each month would get the highest score/game of the month award. Because it'd be Banjo Tooie vs 20 shit pc and psx games. Or Ridge Racer 64 vs a bunch of snowboarding shit.

The Wii happened. They went too casual with their fanbase. They tried to appeal to a larger audience, and in turn lost the actual gamer audience.
SNES > Gamecube > NES > N64
It's so sad the abrupt shift that took place after the Gamecube. They made so much cool shit on the gamecube, stuff like Odama or Pikmin or Luigi's Mansion, that felt pretty unique, then the Wii came along and they never took a meaningful risk again
Also GCN era coincides with the best parts of the GBA and DS eras, so it has that going for it.
i would say n64 was the best.
the gamecube was alright. it had some releases that were good but barely touched it.

Gamecube lost to not only PS2 but also by a small margin to Xbox. It was number 3 where as during the years of Wii/360/PS3 they had the highest selling console of that generation.
64 even though it lost to PS1 still beat the Saturn and 64 had more buzz around it then Gamecube ever did amongst the masses. At least that's what it seems like to me.

i have fun on my Wii U. i mainly play whenever my two little cousins come over. they both have fun creating Mario Maker courses, playing Octodad, and the girl has fun playing Splatoon and winning at mario kart 8.
i lost interest in most of the Wii U exclusives fairly quickly, outside of playing with my cousins. i have most of them (MM, Splatoon, Bayo 1/2, Xenoblade, etc), but, yeah.
i should revise the above - it does couch coop the best. it's similar to the N64, gc, etc in that regard
