Philosophy majors on average have the second highest IQ's and highest SAT scores of all majors. Philosophy majors also score second highest on GRE's and highest on LSAT and MCAT. Philosophy is also pretty difficult to understand.

Philosophy doesn't directly produce anything and doesn't have any absolute standards you can judge people against, so unlike with mathematics it's possible to write a bunch of postmodern bullshit and get a good grade for it in a philosophy class.
>>
History, it's literally just reading stuff.

>>
computer science

~worked~ for me
>>
>>28939201
Not really. Philosophy is pretty hard. Most U.S. schools are analytic. That means you have to actually write laid out arguments and shit. The postmodern bullshit is usually english departments that read continentals.
>>
>>28939248

>op says he's stupid and sucks at everything

Why?

>>
>>28939193
What's the point in getting a degree if you won't get any job?
>>
>>28939340
It's really hard, but since there are so many jobs you can be mediocre and still do well in it. There are very few majors where I can have a C+ average and still get a good job after. Comp sci is one of them
>>
>>28939023
English.
I have an English BA and I'm homeless with a cocaine addiction
>>
>>28939340
indians literally do this shit every dya
>>
>>28939289

Regardless of if philosophy can be made to be hard or not, the fact is there isn't a straightforward right and wrong answer for a philosophical question the way there is for a mathematical question. This lack of clear right or wrong is what allows postmodern bullshit to exist in the first place.
>>
>>28939390
I actually find this to make it hard, i like like when there is an actual right and wrong answer and a clear process for how you get there.
>>
>>28939340
Thank you, I don't feel like a complete failure anymore.
>>
>>28939239
A baby is a thousand times better at your degree then you are.
>>
>>28939390
Just because we don't have a conclusive answer doesn't mean it's bullshit. Most upper-tier mathematics is purely theoretical and is indistinguishable from analytic philosophy.

What's that like? Did people treat you like you were retarded, or was it different because you were only in special ed. math and not special ed. everything?
>>
>>28940887
It helped a lot. The kids in the class were all pretty normal, we all just had learning disabilities. A lot of the kids were in small special ed. classes, but again, they were normal and you wouldn't be able to notice.

How are gender/race studies students graded?

The entire spectrum is a matter of opinion, feelings, and interpretation with insufficient evidence, so you pretty much just have to join up and agree with the "professor's" opinions.
>>
>>28939607
upper-tier mathematics is "theoretical" and abstract but it's also extremely unambiguous.

As for the individual who said philosophy students don't learn anything useful, yes this is "true" but neither do business students.

Business. It's the only think I'm competent enough to do at the moment. Practically anyone can do it.

I'm hoping to go back to school eventually and do it right. But for now I'm stuck with this.
>>
>>28940856
Don't let the man tell you that you suck at everything. The whole point of school is to make everyone complacent, dull and droll. If you weren't good at school it's probably because you're fucking great at something else. There are multiple intelligences. So you suck shit at arithmatic. Oh well. Find what makes you tick and murder that shit!
>>
>>28941310
Nursing is not easy and it's a well-paying job. If you live in California, it's not extraordinarily hard to hustle and find something that pays $100k or so with just a BSN. NP's also make $80-150k and CRNA's make $100-250k

Wat. Most people at my school that are in this complain nonstop about how hard it is, and then they either leave college altogether or they switch majors.
>>
>>28939235
Actually, if you're stupid history is harder than you think. Once you get to the point where you have to read historic documents and they are translated from 500 year old french and then you have to decide what most probably happened during an event based on these incredibly scewed perspectives in broken language it gets harder. Psychological also gets hard after the second year. Arts are easy, unless you lack creativity in which case they are hard.
>>
>>28939340
Upper level language programming isn't really that hard. Lower level shit like the computer hardware guys do is fucking insane. Comp sci is engineering lite.
>>
>>28939125

Third highest GREs. First is physics second is math. I've seen the charts too.

Be an actuary, a teacher, or try hard for a competitive finance job. Probably start between 50k and 80k depending on a ton of factors, including school prestige, internships, and any certifications you have like actuarial exams.

If you can do some programming there some jobs available there as well.
