I'm busy learning HMTL and CSS and JS. The plan is to try to get a job coding. My mission is to no longer be NEET.

What are you up to?

Get out. JS isn't a good language.

I don't want Google's corporate dick in me anymore than it already is, and GNOME's better than Cinnamon or Light. (I've yet to try MATE.)

For some reason I seem to grasp JS better than I do Python or Java, which is why I'm starting there. It's an okay beginner's language. I'd like to learn other languages eventually.

Get LXDE, remove lxpanel, and install gmrun.
Or just use pure openbox.

The fact that you are blogposting about 'learning' programming rather than just sitting down and blasting through it says it all. You are more interested in the idea of being a programmer than you are in programming.

Hint: the people who actually make it don't require or rely on validation from blogposts; they actually have an innate interest in the subject matter that drives them to understand and wield the knowledge.
>>
>>28923728
If you don't learn the server side and the application stack, you''re worth pennies.
>>
>>28924854
Where's the best place to learn? I've been doing a bunch of python lessons on codeacademy
>>
>>28924786
MATE is classic gnome. More control, smaller footprint, less bloat, and less bullshit.

My DE of choice.

Nah, the reason I'm blogposting is because I learn best in company for some reason, and I have no friends, so I figured I could be in yours.

And that's not where I was pointing the thread, anyway. The focus of the post is: what are YOU doing? Don't blame me for where you're taking it, faggot.

Image related.

>learn best in company

If you aren't learning from that company or otherwise gaining some sort of relevant insight, you're wasting your time.

I'll keep these in mind for next time, thanks.

>>28924883
Everyone keeps telling me to focus on different things, which just tells me I have to know a little of everything.

>>28924916
Codecademy's actually a pretty shitty place to learn coding, ironically. I'd go with Udacity, which still isn't great, but it's better than CC.

>>28925043
Nah, I just appreciate having people around me. I don't know what it is. It helps me concentrate, for some reason.

I was trying to write something in JS, but I hate that language too much, and I'm not in mood to do any work.
JS sucks. Why does that language even exist?
>>
Trying to fall asleep and failing seeing as I'm here. A little too much caffeine in my system.

The cofounder requested a meeting at 10P in anticipation of a meeting with a promising lead this coming week. Ended up lasting until like 2A since it devolved into product development brainstorming and extensive analysis of competitors in the target market.

Mandating and enforcing a more stable and sensibly timed internal meeting schedule is obviously very necessary. But it was worth it I suppose.

JS is a joke only in the hands of clueless amateurs who don't understand its fundamentals.

It's a respectable language. Shame it took so long for it to be truly appreciated and utilized to its full potential.
>>
>>28925295
No. OOP is garbage, and naming conventions in JS make me lose shit.
I wish that Lisp was used everywhere.
>>
>>28925315
Lisp is all fun and games until the parenthesis police come and arrest you for inadequate use of parentheses.

If you're going to use a functional language, may as well go full Haskell.
>>
>>28925334
That is going to be the case if your editor is shit.
You can just do M-x check-parens or something.
>>
>>28923728
I've learned:
>programming
>3d rendering
>photoshop
>how to make music
At this point I could make a decent indie game with all the free time I have.
Its just difficult to keep motivated.

html. css and js won't land you a job sorry anon.

i'm NEET also, just quit IT department manager position, pay was good, but the job was boring af.

Now? I just build websites. I try to rank them, run traffic and flip them for profit. Used to take me a month to build a website, now I can literally do it under a hour.

I've been thinking of getting into that as well. The only problem is that you're not just investing the time it takes to draw the filth: even MORE time is invested in "networking" with the freaks so that they know to come to you. I'm not sure the ROI is decent except for the top 1% of that market.

>>28925352
Make something for yourself. I'm creating a highbrow erotica VN with the little coding I do know. You could probably do something more actually game-y.

What would you suggest?

>i'm NEET also, just quit IT department manager position, pay was good, but the job was boring af. Now? I just build websites.

I'm envious. I need very little money, just enough to pay off a house, and pay for internet and food each month. It's okay if I'm not making what a Facebook programmer or whatever does.

I just want a fucking job doing something--doesn't even have to be coding--and nobody will give me it. Feels as if I'm actively unwanted. Not a great feeling.

Depends where you at. if burgerland I would definitely go for C#, literally any company related to Microsoft (the whole burgerland) is in a huge deficit of solid C# programmers.

Not burgerland? Drop coding, look into cyber security.

forgot to add, google for Cybrary, get some free certifications and become a specialist. Certified IT specialists outrank computersci degrees so easily.
>>
>>28925982
after you have free cybrary certs (free education)
invest in comptia+ and mta (microsoft entry level)
both of these can be learned at cybrary but cybrary certs are not regulated by ministery of education eg. worthless, but the knowledge itself, is priceless.

You're amazing. This is exactly what I've always been interested in, I've just never known where to begin. Fuck, dude, I'd give you a BJ if this were in person. Thanks so much.

>>28926097
Those jobs are reserved for "previously disadvantaged" where I live. I don't fall under that category because of my skin colour (guess which), so I can't get a menial job.

I am studying a law degree but some PTSD, depression, and anxiety have gotten in the way. Anyway, I won't be able to do anything with that degree. The market's saturated now.

>>28926181
Just a bit longer. Congrats on your future promotion.
