my psych wants me to go to a neurologist too since I told her I get episodes of derealization where my brain feels fuzzy and it's like I'm in a dream and nothing's real. also been hearing voices at night

OP here and happy to see a fellow bipolar here. Got diagnosed with depression at 19 but I've only recently been diagnosed and the waittimes for treatments in my country are a killer. Any tips for the recovery stage? What should I be wary of when starting meds?

I've heard of a normal life being theoretically possible. All of my experiences with myself and other Schizophrenic people make it seem like it isn't even remotely possible to have a normal life.

Thanks, anon, this is some great advice for right now. Routines are pretty difficult for me to have especially if they are sleeping routines since racing thoughts are a bitch.

This isn't a court of law, anon. My brother has had episodes which has sent him off on a train travelling to different areas running away from God knows what, and has been in jail before because of it and now he's functioning like a normal human with his meds and medical attention. It's possible. Keep hope alive.

I'm sure it's fucking difficult to do, and it's a really hard illness to have and one that I don't understand but you shouldn't give up hope and think that you will never get to achieve your dreams. I had schizophrenic symptoms and it was completely incapitating.
The only things I've been diagnosed with (I absolutely loathe doctors and avoid them unless I'm dying) are dysphoria and generalized anxiety. I'm sure there's more, but I wouldn't see a shrink unless I was legally obligated.
