Depends on what you think improvement is. I enjoy playing vidya so cutting them from my life would definitely not improve my life in that sense. I would be more productive though so I guess my life would be improved in that way, but I personally value happiness over productiveness.

It depends on what your life is like to begin with.
If you are procrastinating on another hobby which you prefer to video games but lack the confidence/motivation, then sure. Quitting would probably improve your life.
If you really enjoy video games and can otherwise support yourself/have a benefactor, then there's no real point to quitting.

I use Video Games to fill my time, I'm not going to do anything productive with Vidya or without it. I mean I'll just scamper off to my comics, my television, my movies, or 4chan. I don't want to make progress having something to fill the time isn't the problem. It's that I don't feel motivated to do anything above existing anymore because I just don't care anymore.
Actually speaking of video games, I've only logged 3.2 hours in the last two weeks. I should go play some more Rollercoaster Tycoon.

I used to play a moderate amount of video games as a kid. In high school I got addicted to Starcraft II and then, worst of all, League. Eventually, things got out of hand and I finally quit out of disgust with myself. Quitting took me a few tries but I finally stopped. I thought after making this major change in my life, things would be better.
About 2 years later, I'm not much better off. Arguably worse. I feel like those days of playing League and masturbating endlessly permanently fucked my brain, reducing my concentration ability. At least that's what I tell myself, maybe I was just always going to be like this.
My brain still misses that instant rush of satisfaction of gaming. I re-installed a few times but strangely, once I get in queue, I feel no desire to play. I just feel like it's a chore and that I'm wasting my time.
Like I said, I'm still shitty these days. I just basically browse 4chan and Youtube at every opportunity I can get, effectively replacing gaming. Quitting 4chan is much harder than League for some reason. If I don't spend a little time hear each day, I just feel even more lonely and empty than usual.
I tried quitting /r9k/ too, I remember some anon posted about how he didn't realize how much of an effect it was having on him, and once he quit, he made it. This is my first day back here in a while. I left before the robot was put back up. I still feel like hopeless though.
I digress. Quitting video games didn't work for me. I guess that suggests I have a bigger problem I need to take care of. I feel so jaded, yet complacent. I don't really know what to do to fix my life, everything I've tried so far hasn't worked. Maybe it's time to give NoFap a serious attempt.

Man, I really hope you're right. It's going to a bitch to quit porn though. There's just so much good stuff out there. I used to fapping like 2-3 per day minimum, reaching into 5-6 on particularly shitty days. Now it's more like 1-2 per day. I saw some study somewhere saying the average is 2-3 per week, so I'm significantly above the average, for once.
NoFap is pretty confusing though. On hand you see people praising it for it's magical powers but on the other hand, you see studies showing that it makes no real difference, outside of a tiny testosterone boost on the 7th day, before going back to normal. I'm guessing the people who have success with it are those who severely undervalue their attractiveness or something or already have an SO or something.
