I believe the technological revolution has made man's genetic advantages and predispositions less relevant.
Along with a deemphasis on marriage and child rearing for women and an emphasis on post-adolescent sexual experimentation while a much larger proportion of women remain the gatekeepers of the sexual and relationship marketplace.
Birth control and abortion are obvious advantages for women compared to previous eras.
Thus the scales are tilted toward women.
Men are often ignored until they can prove themselved to be extraordinary. Depression and unhealthy attitudes/preoccupations can set in while they are forced to wait.
