Hey there, /r9k/,
My friend and I just released an album, he's the singer, but I control the bandcamp. We have literally no friends to listen to this music, but we both put a lot into it, so we might as well give it to some robots to enjoy, so it's free. Have a listen.
Meanwhile I'll drop some ultra-rare pepes. Feel free to save I'm burning this HDD soon.
It's a sort of psychedelic folk album. Hope you like it.

>>28910657
has anybody listened to the music? what do you think?
testing testing do not respond
ITs pretty nice desu
a bit Radiohead-esque
I don't like folk music to begin with so I thought it was utter shit. Thanks for the frogs though.
>>28910323
I find this kind of music in general a bit derivative and boring, so I can't really judge. Sorry OP
But I think you can always improve!! Don't give up
>>28910323
is it on spotify? I'm too lazy to chan ge between songs manually,
I just keep my "weekly automated recommendations" playlist running and ocassionally throw some album manually in it
You should make martial industrial, it's the current year and the more volkisch art out there the better.

>folk music is indie (hipster) music
nope
It sorta of reminds me of Portugal. The Man., although the two are very differents.
Back to your content, I think you have something really good here, it sounds very professional, but it's not really my style and it's not very original.
I really think you have potential to become a star, but you have to dive in music completely.
Hope you have success, anon.
Too bad I'm not fond of the way it's sung, but I have to say, it's got a very down to earth and nice feel to it.
Keep up the good music lad !
Its really good op, my and a friend are also putting out an album that no one will probably listen to. This is probably better than our stuff
>>28910323
Downloaded and enjoying it very much. Thanks OP. Keep it going on man.
>>28910323
I opened the band camp tab and started listening to your music. While it was playing the first song I started writing a long post about how you're shamelessly plugging yourself while pretending to be a robot. I wrote a lot about how you don't look like a robot from the album picture and how you don't belong here.
Then I got to "We are the People." I don't know why but I started tearing up. It was probably the gentle harmonica. I felt a lot better and it was beautiful. I deleted most of what I wrote and started writing this.
You spent a lot of time on this album and you aren't even charging people to listen to it. It's all free. And I didn't do anything to deserve it but you made my day a little better. So thanks, and you're music meant something to my day. Keep making music and posting it here.
>>28910968
Thank you so much!
>>28911154
Honestly the best compliment you could give me
>>28911175
thats cool man everyone has their thing
>>28911282
I used to think that, too. Was hyper into metal and all sorts of avante-garde genres (still am), but I find beauty in simplicity now.
>>28911300
Sorry dude, it isnt, you have to pay to get on spotify and i'm really really broke.
>>28911703
>folk is indie
you fell for the mumford meme, anon. Folk music is one of the oldest western music genres.
>>28911850
thanks senpai
>>28912165
thanks bb!
>>28912528
Thank you, anon. I really appreciate that. I recently lost both grandparents and a cousin in one wek, and there were a lot of funerals and a lot of tears and a lot of emotional numbness from me. "We The People" and Metastasis are both sort of about that. I've been on the edge of killing myself since I can remember and that certainly didn't help.I miss you oma and opa, i hope you're happy where you are
>>28911326
>more volkisch than folk
Whatever Anon just bought the album for 10$, you're the first person to ever buy my music, and I really really needed that right now. Tuition and anti-depressants are expensive as fuck, and I've sorta been having daily anxiety attacks about having to exist like a regular person. So please reply to this, I'd like to know who it was. If you'd rather stay anonymous, just know that that's the best thing that's happened to me in weeks, and it doesn't matter who you are or what you're like. it doesn't matter if you spend your time on /r9k/, or if you're just like me and sort of hobbled up in your room all alone wondering what the hell you're supposed to do with life. That doesn't matter at all. I love you.
>>28910323
Bretty good shit there man. Hope you guys get popular.
>>28912619
German descent?
tfw second generation and all our traditions and our culture will die with me.
>>28912732
First generation north-american. It's a bad feel. My Oma and Opa were the only real connection I had to my European homeland, and now that's gone. I sort of feel lost at sea without that guiding light as to who I'm supposed to be as a person in a way that does my ancestors proud, you know?

>>28910323

>>28912619
I like the music OP
I'm a big folk fan, just wondering how long you've been playing the instruments/making music because i want to make some stuff.
>>28912777
those trips would make your ancestors proud
>>28912815
I will, spooks. thank you.
>>28912834
I've been singing for about the last 12 years. anything pre-puberty doesn't count because you don't know how your voice will change, and can't train for it. I've been writing music for a good 5 years, and only just now started *seriously* recording (I had a few meme bands beforehand) Been playing guitar for close to a decade, but all the guitar playing on this song is super super simple stuff.
>>28912849
Praise Kek
>>28912550
>folk music
>not a folk song on the whole album
>just cry baby acoustic tunes
>mfw
Also it kind of sucks, too busy with random fucking noise. Why all the vocal tracks? It's like the Unicorns but not good. Anyone who is actually into music will know this is trash.
That being said you could probably get somewhere with this and gig with it, but I don't like it.
>>28912875
Thats pretty cool, how old are you guys then?
Fuck i wish i had of been interested in music as a kid so i'd be good enough to make some decent shit.
>>28912980
Fuck off, /mu/, before you hit me with that "folk music is only covers" bullshit, modern folk and singer-songwriter music is a genre in and of itself that falls under the umbrella of folk. Not to mention you clearly don't actually "know" music if you couldn't recognize all the chord progressions that were inspired by classic americana (we the people, revalations, & sing sing sing are all very classic chord progressions)
You can think it sucks, man, but you can't tell me it isn't folk. Bet you think sufjan stevens or neutral milk hotel aren't folk either, right?
Sorry that I can't afford great recording software or microphones, man, I can't help my economic place any more than I already am (working 40 hours a week to pay rent and tuition and medication costs)
>>28913018
in our 20s, university students.
I was a little shit as a kid who ignored my parents attempts to teach me music, totally should have taken advantage, when I got to be a teenager though i discovered it on my own and taught myself.
Never pay for a lesson. If you wanna learn guitar, use justinguitar. just google it. Best way to learn simple theory, songwriting, and how to play acoustically. I wish he was around or i'd known of it when i was teaching myself scouring the internet and library books.
I believe in you anon. !
>>28913147
lol Those same chord progressions are used through every genre of music anon, there are only so many chords. Just because you think playing them on an acoustic guitar and crooning like a bitch makes you a folk musician, does not make it true.
You are a true dilettante and are making music as such. You the cancer that grows on every college campus. I could close my eyes and throw a rock on any quad and find another musician with the same skill level as you and your friend. Good luck, just know that you are mediocre and nothing special.
>>28913147
Also if you want some respect for your 'very classic chord progressions' then learn how to do something other than ham-fistedly strum them out.
>This is constructive criticism you don't want to hear
I really like it anon, is this a one off thing or are you planning on making new shit in the future? Have a themed Wojak on the house.
>>28912777
I was fortunate in that my mother held onto our culture, cooking German food and so on. She tried to get me to learn German but I've forgotten most of it. My Oma and Opa are on their last legs themselves. My Opa is always telling me about how he's ready to go. My Father's parents aren't doing too well either. I need to get a suit, because I'm sure I'll have some funerals to go to within the next few years.
>>28913332
shit dog, we actually have an album under a different name that features accordion, it's also free, have at it. this one is a bit more sad

that album was sort of a fuzzier angrier demo for this album.
do you have anything on youtube? i can't listen to any of your songs on my phone for some reason

Thanks anon, gotta love a bit of accordion. Getting a very Music Tapes-y feel on this so far.

just for you.
I want as many people to listen to it as possible.

>>28914232
It's really good, OP. Inspires me to need to get back to practicing my guitar. I've had it for over 3 years and I still can't play for shit because I have no idea how to self-teach. Maybe it's just a motivation issue.

This website is awesome and has helped tons of my friends :) totally free, too
Again, if the Anon who bought the album is in here, you gave me 10$, and that seems like a totally little amount, but to a guy like me, that's way way way more than you know. Not only were you the first to buy the album, but you helped me out monetarily which can maybe help me get on spotify or something to help me make it.
>>28914750
I'll look into this, thanks.
>>28910323
It's good if a little amateurish. I dunno how you want your music to sound though. I know some go for that "lower quality recorded" sound on purpose. I don't know if you want it to sound like something off a CD or the radio.
But I'm hearing a lot of these songs, and in my head they would sound better if mixed/mastered better. You have talent/heart, and studio sessions might be what you need to try out next.
(or let someone else mix/mastering it or something; that isn't as expensive)
>>28914934
man, I'd so love that. I'm dirt poor; the album was wholly recorded on an iphone and thinkpad, hence the amateurish sound.
>>28914727
thanks man, i'll check it out now
>>28914727
i like it. There's a really fresh easygoing feeling to your songs. Are you the only one playing or do you have someone else alongside you?
i liked a couple of songs in that album op
dont leave me there
i want to go california
we the people
dont leave me there was the best
This shit is pretty tight, don't stop making music
>>28915481
Thanks man! There's two of us. One guitarist and one guitar/vocalist, I'm the vocalist :)

>I was a little shit as a kid who ignored my parents attempts to teach me music, totally should have taken advantage, when I got to be a teenager though i discovered it on my own and taught myself.
>tfw I know that feel
Holy fuck bro, I am a 24 year old NEET and just started recording and writing lyrics on my own because I don't have or can't find a band
I don't really like folk music but your album sounds pretty good, I'm loving Metastasis right now
Wish I could give you some money but I'm a dirty poor mexican
>>28916465
it's cool dude, just do the same thing i did, release your stuff for free later for your fellow robots :)
Loved the first track. Going to get the album for my morning commute.
As a fellow musician and Canadian, please keep on keepin' on.
