Did anyone fall for the trade skill meme? How has it worked out for you?
I wouldn't really consider it a meme. You can carve out a decent living for yourself practicing a trade. I'm a welder apprentice. I only make 12 bucks an hour, but when I'm put on full time I'll get bumped up to 15-16. Far better than retail, and not talking to customers already makes it a 10/10 gig

I'm also in metal fabrication.
Started welding 5 years ago, obtained several certifications, and worked my way up to fitter. Within the next 5 years I definitely see myself as a quality control inspector.
The money was shit in the beginning but now I'm at $19.50/hr which is a pretty livable wage.
OP is wrong. Trades aren't a meme. You just have to take it seriously and put in years of hard work.

here in the UK a plumber or appliance engineer can make GBP50,000+ per year (just over $70,000 USD). seems like the right thing to do if you're not intelligent enough to get a standard business finance position and earn $100,000+ usd
i am falling for the University meme atm
