I'm hanging in there. There's a good chance I'll have straight A's this quarter. My virology class was pretty fun

I just hope that I can finally get into my ochem class. If I don't get it this quarter I'll have to make up for it in summer school or maybe even stay an extra year

Fucking school only has 100 seats over 4 classes and there are 100 extra people on the waitlist. What kind of shit is that? And I doubt they'll give me priority on the waitlist because I'm not a chem major. I'll have a fucking chem minor by the time I graduate though. Just add some Physical Chemistry to my Biotech degree and I'll have a double major

Fuck the chem department desu

>You'll be automated out of your job in the next 10 years and I'm personally making sure of that

First year intern doctor. The rise of machine/robot assisted medicine has actually INCREASED the number of doctors required rather than decrease.

It's not engineering majors putting us out of work, it's the movement from symptom treatment to preventative medicine. I mean, if you stop the disease from existing in the first place (vaccines, etc) then what's there for us to treat?

That's being done by biochem majors. But I'm sure you'll pump out a machine in 20 years time that'll funnel out all of the annoying 'cold and flu' patients we don't want to see. Appreciate it.

Look there's nothing wrong with wanting an easy life. If you don't want to challenge yourself and use as little brain power as you possibly can every day then you become an EE.

If you want to do something meaningful, make tons of money and actually apply some intelligence then work hard and become a doctor.

Shows the sheer quality of education you need to even comprehend being a doctor.

I mean it's great if you can be an EE in 4 years, but that just shows how easy the degree is. Being a doctor is a lifelong commitment to education and bettering your practice.

>makes money and has no time to spend it
First years of internship and residency are hard, I won't lie. You spend a lot of time working and committing yourself to your field. Attending/GP's though only work 35-40 hours a week, less in private practice.

It's not a hard job. The hard part is getting the qualifications. It reminds me of this anecdote I heard, relating to some sort of engineer. The details are fuzzy but the gist of it goes like this
>Guy hires an engineer to fix something
>Engineer screws on a couple bolts
>Charges guy 1000 dollars
>Guy is outraged
>Demands an itemized bill stating the cost of everything in total
>Engineer produces bill
>10 dollars for supplies

>>
>>28896925
>missing the point entirely
I didn't mean literally screwing in a nut, I meant in general. Having the necessary skills to see whats wrong, and how to troubleshoot it. Those are skills built over time, with understanding of the material you're working with, and worth a lot of money. If a circuit surged, can you tell what part of it is fried? Knowing how to test each part to see what needs to be fixed is just as important as knowing how to fix it.

What is the difference between electrical and computer engineering. They seem the same.
>>
>>28897317
You know some of those resistors are unnecessary right
>>
>>28897336
electrical engineers mainly focus on power systems from what i know
>>
>>28897298
The most common error of people who think they know how to do it is starting to loop from 0 even if the task calls for 1.
>>
>>28897336
EE has much more analog systems, analysis of electrical waves and frequencies, signal processing, etc. You're working mostly with current running through resistors, capictors, etc. CE has much more to do with digital logic as it relates to higher level circuits, memory processes, etc.
>>
>>28897347

My flatmate just told me that for the past month I have been being annoying and whingy. I never go out with anyone, I have no friends. I am moderately friendly with a few people but I think everyone dislikes me and is just nice to me because I cried in class one day.

Not that guy with the boyfriend. Just wanted to say just moving doesn't turn you into a non robot or make people like you. When I wasted time at university I lived in an apartment, just like I do now.

So you're in a completely different situation to the person I was responding to? Got it. Note, she said her flatmate had insulted her, so obviously they do know each other.

I didn't say that moving would turn you into a normie, I just meant it gives you an easy opportunity to meet new people even if it doesn't guarantee they'll like you. I was giving genuine advice from experience, I don't get why this board always devolves into retarded arguments.

Yeah... I was kind of disliking you because of your replies.
So... I do know our graduation courses is revoltingly poor, specially in my land.
But it doesn't mean we are studying the brain just for fun or money. We (in my Uni's lab), actually read and research what we think matters to understanding how the brain works.
Since you are in medschool I kind of expect you to think that you're above other studs, but I think it's unfair to think we're low tier just because we're not on a neurology program. And it's not that we wanted to and didn't manage to. We like researching what we do.

I got called in to the Associate Dean's office because she was also an English professor and she adored me when I was in one of her classes. She arranged a meeting with another professor who coordinates our university's application process for Fulbright scholarships and she wanted to put me forward as a candidate.

The meeting was awkward as fuck because even though the Associate Dean loves me and I have a 4.0 GPA, I simply don't have enough time left to get 4 semesters of language training to become a Fulbright scholar and I haven't done any extracurricular activities. The other student who came with me to the meeting was a freshman and she does a shitload of extracurricular stuff, so I felt like shit because this professor dude obviously did not have a lot of faith in me and favored the other girl.

I have no idea what to do with my academic career. I am a History major so a perfect GPA won't make me worth that much unless I really put in the effort to be even more. Instead I've been focused on my working class job as a dishwasher at the local hospital, where I feel a lot more at home with my Mexican and Native coworkers than I do with the liberal millenials at my university.

I am so confused and I am also drunk.

This is true, engineering is the simpleton of STEM, kiddies who don't do well in physics and maths apply for it, whereas those who excel in physics and maths study physics and/or maths at university.

But 225,000 starting salary? LOL.
In the UK you start by slaving off to the NHS for long hours, sleepless nights and shit pay for 10 years. It is true wagecuckery. Even an engineering kiddie has a better shot by creating a startup and getting rich.

Well um, no... That is not how that works. Tractors did not kill farming, they made farming way more efficient. So you will never automate everyone out of a job, and usually when you do come up with something people will get shuffled around a little, and the businesses that adopt it will be able to take on more stuff, as opposed to laying people off. Since people are rare to rush in, and trust stuff totally, so they want to still retain staff for a while. Sorry anon, you can't make people unemployed with tech.

Look, you guys are trying to make things too simple. Med school is a hell of a lot of work, and the united states currently has a lot more need for doctors of a few different kinds than it has doctors. Though on the other hand, the world has a ton of Engineers that are unprofessional, and lack good workplace communication skills, and devotion. So if you have those things, you can make just as much money as a doctor with less time investment to get your training.
