You're right, but if these kids then wanted to gain mass at some point they would probably be able to better, quicker and easier than a kid with the same genes whose childhood exercise was playing casual football at lunch break and proper football 2 afternoons a week.

Those kids weight ~20 kilos. When I was at that mass I could do 500 push ups. When I started gaining mass I went down to 10 push ups.
