What was /r9k/ like before it became a cult for mass murderers and serial killers?

It was mainly just greentext stories OP. Pretty much the same type of threads as on /b/ (at the time) but the whole board moved much slower and there was more oc and less gore and porn.
Then one day one of the mods made the title of /r9k/'s page "/r9k/ - Alpha as Fuck!" and so someone made a thread about "alpha as fuck stories"
As you can imagine, /r9k/ users of the time being very creative usually rused you into thinking the protagonist of their greentext was going to be alpha, only to turn out beta to humorous effect.
This went on a bit but then a whole load of worthless newshits showed up and completely missed the irony and started posting genuinely sad and pathetic beta stories.
Soon afterward one of the mods changed the title to "Beta as fuck ;_;" and the board never really recovered after that.
In a quick matter of a few days or less the jovial greentexts about lighthearted social fuckups were replaced by some of 4chans most genuinely socially retarded idiots, mumbling bout their failures.
The board was deleted soon afterward but then revived as a form of protest against the fat cunt that deleted ed. However /r9k/ has continued to be a hub of isolated man children ever since.
I'm still here out of a long habbit. Even when the board was gone my browser still opened /r9k/ on startup. I have long abandonded hope that it'd return to how it once was and simply enjoy it now as a way to make "robots" feel worse about themselves by posting pictures of happy couples and people. Punishment for taking my board away from me.
