Why don't you all become truckers?

>free house on wheels
>prostitutes at every truck stop
>alone 100% of the time
>no need to shower or keep up physical apperance
>listen to music/audiobooks during the day
>shitpost at night
>make great money
>most companies will pay for CDL schooling
>>
Yeah but
>driving
>>
>>28864763
If you're over 20 years old and can't drive you need to give up now.
>>
>>28864747
Well this is why I don't
>becoming a trucker requires a cdl
>getting a cdl/employment requires talking to people

you see my problem
>>
Lorry drivers in the UK are under a lot of stress all the time. Every job now tries to squeeze as much out of every employee. There are basically no jobs left for low-energy losers...
>>
I would totally do this kind of work, but I'm a terrible driver. Also, usually drunk. Don't want to be the guy who lost control of an 18-wheeler.
>>
>>28864795
Do you get neetbucks? They should set everything up for you if you tell them it what you want to do. I mean a 10 minute interview and a week of training is worth overcoming the largest obstacle in your life.
>>
>>28864834
>They should set everything up for you if you tell them it what you want to do
Who is they?

and true, but if I'm going to exert that much energy into doing something it's gonna be suicide.
>>
>going down a career path that won't exist in 20 years
wew lad that's a bad idea. self driving cars will take a long time to take hold of the civilian market, but the commercial market can't fucking wait to fire all those losers they have driving their trucks and replace them with robots.

do not become a trucker, you probably wouldn't even be able to pay off your rig by the time you get replaced by DriveBot V1.32
>>
I get quite anxious when driving to places I've never been to (especially on highways too), but I guess I could somewhat fix that if I finally buy a proper GPS.

Also truckers need special driving licenses in where I live, so that's a problem too since I only have a basic one.
>>
>>28864747
>most companies will pay for CDL schooling
That's a fucking lie you dirty ass man. I convinced my grandma to pay for CDL school so I could get out of the house and get a job and that shit cost like $6500. A business will only pay for your CDL if you know someone or some special circumstance

Still don't have a job because I broke my leg running up a down escalator about a week after getting the CDL so I've been at home waiting to get this cast off
>>
>>28864862
>going down a career path that won't exist in 20 years

Are we talking about trucking or literally 90% of jobs on the market right now?

Also, 20 years ago people were saying the same shit.
>>
>>28864747
What does it pay? I've always envied truckers but I'll probably either work in an office or languish in service until I die
>>
>>28864860
Your case worker.
>>
>>28864793
>being this americocentric
>>
>>28864902
my case worker...? What the fuck are you talking about
>>
>>28864890
you clearly have no idea what you are talking about

1. the vast majority of jobs are too specialized and require too many specific functions for a machine to do, unless that machine is a fucking cyborg.
2. 20 years ago people knew simple jobs could and would be done machines instead of people. 20 years ago there was no Google car with an established track record proving how easy it would be to replace human drivers. 20 years ago GPS systems and computers in general were not as advanced
3. ur fuckin dumb ya dumb cunt
>>
>>28864871
>most companies will pay for CDL schooling
If you are on any form of government assistance (disability/unemployment) the government will pay for it in a heartbeat.
Almost every place I see in Colorado offers to pay for the schooling if you speak English and already have a real drivers license.
Very large companies (like Jeffco) also pay just because it's easier for them to train employees verses trying to judge what they already learned elsewhere.
>>
>>28864923
If you're on government assistance you have a case worker and a case number. You personally may never have dealt with yours. Normally you only see them if you have issues with your case or need to make changes (like becoming employed), unless of course you live outside the US then I have no idea how it works.
>>
I hate driving, it's stressful and gives me anxiety attacks.
>>
>>28864793
Always lived in big cities(1.7 and 3.4M people)
They have that thing called public transport
>>
>>28864747
I vomit from having to travel in a car so I have to travel by train on longer distances
>>
>>28864793
It has nothing to do with not being able to drive. I have my own car and a license; I just don't want to pay for insurance and fucking hate the act of driving.

I would rather stay NEET. A job where all you do is drive 60hrs a week sounds like torture.
>>
>>28864747
I've seriously considered it but it would make losing weight too difficult.
If I don't make it into the airforce and can't afford school, I'll truck until I can.

>>28864793
I passed and bought a car in November and I'm 25. Haven't destroyed it yet either.
>>
>>28864747
I still hold out hope for normiehood
>>
entry level pay is ok

Google Car will replace you within the next decade.

Kek, guess you should have learned a skill that was more complicated than spinning a wheel.
>>
>>28865844
18 wheels son
>>
Work security. You'll spend a lot more time looking at something that isn't just the fucking road.
>Oh man that is some prime asphalt, ayup. only have to look at it for an other 6 hours straight
what kind of moron would willingly become a trucker?
>>
>>28865902
>18 steering wheels
>>
>>28865921

if you work for a bigger company, you get to travel all over North America. Usually once a loads been delivered or there isn't time restrictions, you get a bit of downtime wherever it is that you are. Only a bit, but still.

Above average pay, nothing groundbreaking, and you never really spend it on anything so it's a good way to save money.

Most truckers or former truckers did it because they were "bored". Driving all day does seem a bit boring, bit if you get to drive all over NA and see everything, it kind of makes up for it.

Just don't have a girlfriend or a family. The same truckers usually just got out of a divorce or were plain single.
>>
I'm fucking terrified of driving my Pontiac G6.

I can't even imagine driving a truck
>>
so much misinformation in this thread
>>
>>28864901
I know a few that make around 70k/year. Most though I'd say average at 50-60.
>>
because the truck drivers union decides who gets to be a truck driver and who doesn't, otherwise anyone could become one and their wages would plummet. you need to be well connected to get the proper certifications. typically these jobs pass down from father to son.

>Why don't you all become truckers?
Motherfucker, have you SEEN the average robot? Too anxious to drive and too lazy to get a CDL anyway.

Your average robot gives a few thousand too many fucks to live by the way of the road.
>>
>>28864747
As someone with a relative in the profession of cross country car hauling I know a little something something.

Car Hauler
>Alright pay
>Home on wheels
>A good amount of freedom as long as the job gets done
>Much longer or much shorter days/nights of working depending on how you handle yourself and your time
>May get lost
>Boss willing to take some of your shit
>You can expect a handful of speeding tickets
>You have to put the cars on yourself and it takes hours

Box Hauler
>Better pay
>No home on wheels
>Less freedom
>Typical days/nights
>Generally know where you are
>Boss not willing to take some of your shit
>Not a lot of speeding tickets
>Most of the manual work is done for you

Also, never buy a truck for yourself because 99% of the time it won't work out. Also also:
>prostitutes at every stop
You know literally nothing of what you're talking about right there. I've gone all over the fucking place with my pap and never once did we find a truck stop that didn't BTFO in terms of stock, quality, and family friendliness.
>>
>>28867738
You've never seen a lot lizard? That's amazing, but they were wiping them out systematically when I got off the road 2-3 years ago
>>
you forgot about:
>need to be physically fit and healthy as fuck
>the roads can be dangerous, especially in the winter
>need to know how to drive a giant 18-wheeler because it's not like driving a normal car, it's a completely different system inside
>need to actually talk to people and what not to get your next shipment job
also,
>prostitutes at every truckstop
is this legit or is this a meme? besides, they're probably full of STDs
>>
>>28867763
Nope, never. We were generally on the east coast though. Not sure if that has something to do with it. Why'd you quit if you don't mind me asking?
>>
>>28865844
>le technology will replace you maymay
>>
You forgot:
>Smoking methamphetamines to drive for days on end to keep up with ludicrous delivery deadlines
>>
>>28864862
>CDL is a career path
Like, what, 6 weeks investment, max?
>>
>>28867876
They're referred to as "lot lizards"

Google to find out why that term shouldn't be arousing.

Also use a little foresight. Any woman that's even halfway attractive and open to whoring isn't going to be at a truck stop unless she's developmentally disabled.
>>
>>28865029
I know how you feel. I've been driving for 5 years. I'm a careful driver.

People getting into the car with me fucks everything up. I can't shift gears without screwing it up. I can't change lanes without screwing it up. It's not good.
>>
>>28864801

In the USA I imagine it's a lot more cosy being a trucker. A lot more long and empty roads.
In the UK you'll just be going up and done the motorways all fucking day. Would literally drive a man to commit suicide.
>>
I have actually thought about this.

Do female truck drivers even exist?
>>
>>28864747
Horrible idea anon. Truck drivers are going to be replaced by self driving trucks in less than 5 years. Japan has already been replacing their truck drivers with them.
>>
>>28869088
Yeah they are usually with their husband and take turns driving. Either that or hardcore butch lesbos.
>>
>>28869088
They do.

They're exactly as you'd imagine.
>>
>>28867895
Couldn't handle my addictions, never got into any accidents or did anything stupid but people started thinking I was unreliable and that was it. It's all a boys club and all these guys talk to each other. Ended up working for a Rwandan immigrant and just said fuck it one day, went crazy, lost a couple years, and came out the other end with NEETbux.

The East Coast used to be the best spot. Philadelphia, Carlisle, Baltimore/Jessup, Vince Lombardi, Florence, all the way down to Ocala/Wildwood had whores out there every night until about 2010 then people didn't want to be "the only truck stop that shill has whores"
>>
I heard truck driving shortens lives because you become obese as fuck from eating shit and sitting all damn day long.. inb4 me complaining about my lifespan. I don't wanna die supporting the jew, my uncle works as a truck driver and he never sees his young daughters ever. just no win in sight for them
>>
I rather work as a machinist. As a single man it's great.
>pay 50k per year
>not too physically intensive
>not mindbogglingly boring either

I'm thinking of welding but I have a bad knee and can't be on them for a long time. I love to cook. I would love to be a cook at one of the Las Vegas casino's buffets.
>>
>>28864871
Could be the area. Many driving companies in my area are offering free CDL training to those 21+
>>
>>28864747

This is actually tough work. Lots of medical issues happen. If you're not 100% focused, fuck up and crash, you'll go to jail if you survive, as you knew better being a professional driver. Add 18+ hour days to meet deadlines in every weather imaginable, traffic jams, etc., makes it even worse. And the loaders for your truck can try to put a heavier load than your truck can handle which can cause an accident too.

Source: talked to a dude that did this his whole life and told me everything. Fucking stressed that this isn't an easy way out, but you CAN make really damn good money.
>>
>>28868171
"friends of the road" bubs.
>>
>>28864871
Probably illegals getting licenses and taking all the fucking jobs.
>>
Sure, it'd be decent work. It doesn't really matter, though, because all driving jobs will be automated in less than 20 years.
>>
Truckers are about to all be replaced by self-driving lorries apart from dangerous routes where there would be highway robbery if there was not a human in the vehicle.
>>
>>28866129
>you get to travel all over North America
you get to see high ways. on a very strict timetable. most of the time off spent in greasy gas stations getting propositioned by walking STDs. you're trying some hard to glamorize something thats about as desirable as being a sewer worker (though at least that pays better and you get to stay in the same city)
>>
>>28870030
>>not mindbogglingly boring either
wrong
>>
>>28864871
Nope. At least seven companies in my area are offering 1k+ sign on bonuses, and paid CDL training, in exchange for a 1 year contract. Eat shit.
>>
>>alone 100% of the time

I don't think you understand.
Our loneliness isn't a choice.
We crave intimacy more than anyone.
