Who /fairy tail/ here? I want to watch it,as it looks good, but I'm not sure if it is top quality. Thoughts?

I disliked it until the first few arcs was over, then I started to love it. I haven't seen the "new" season though.

-devolves into an absolute mess of s plot where nobody but boring MC can do anything
-has possibly the worst writing of any series I've ever read

It's a shounen. What more needs to be said? You know what you're getting into. About the only thing it has over other shounen is having more hot girls than usual but that's it.

Shounen is a kind of demography, not a genre. It encompasses a huge amount of manganimuvel media.
Even if a work is directed towards young men because of various purposes, it doesn't mean its quality will be any worse.
You could probably say "your average battle shounen" in this case.

Fairy tail's story is nothing special, it's all around an 'ehh' anime to be perfectly honest with you member of my family.

Meh, its not terrible but it got boring for me, i wouldn't recommend it.
It's just as shitty as One Piece or Naruto.
The only thing it has going for it is the fan service and the music.
The music is top tier, really.
Ironically where the anime started its pause, the manga started to get better.
It's a good show for robots though as it fakes nakama into your heart.
