i've missed payment on my credit card two months in a row. they've stopped the card and started calling me but i don't pick up. it's like a $600 debt. recently i received a check and i want to cash it. if i take it to my bank, whom i owe, can i have them cash it for me or will they just take it as payment? i really need the cash, to hold me over until i get another check.

I've paid for everything I've ever bought or done except school.
I'd call my mom, get her to pay the balance, then cash the check and pay mom back when I could.
Mom doesn't charge interest or send bailiffs after me.

You can cash the check, it's fine. If they say they want to keep the money as payment, tell them no thanks and take your check and open an account somewhere else. But don't worry that has never been the case in my work experience, but can only speak for US.
