Maybe misaki didn't directly helped Satou. But she definitely played a major part in him recovering. If Misaki wasn't as persistent and causing all this stress to Satou he probably would've stayed in his comfort zone and only sunk lower.
I think the catch is that you need someone to motivate you to change, do something else, get you out of your comfort zone. Misaki was that person for Satou.

This has made me even more untrusting towards people I know, which probably is a setback.
I do have a few online friends that try to check up on me every once in a while. But I don't feel like they want to hang around for a prolonged time. Most likely because they don't genuinely like me, but still feel bad for me.
I think it varies to person to person. Atleast people acknowledge my existence. But they have to eventually move on with their lives and I will at most be a faint memory for them.

I personally just want to experience the medium in the original way it was first released in its home demographic + I think Western synchronisations of Japanese voices always inevitably alter the experience of the original character design. This has much to do with Western society being hyper masculine by default and the resulting tone in both men/women's voices.
