Why are people so against robots replacing workers? It makes everything better, faster, more consistent. The service industry will be much better for the customer. Sounds great to me.
>>
yeah
id love to watch the global economy collapse and have a billion people living in the street
>>
>no jobs
>no money for workers
>workers thus have no money to spend
>thus businesses arent selling shit

only way around this is a universal basic income
but where will the money come from?

taxes

but how will businesses pay taxes if they have no customers?

they wont.

and that's why robots are a bad thing
>>

Not every job can be automated. If you're incompetent enough to not get a job that actually requires more than menial simple tasks then that's on you.>>28837546

thats why its only one billion

Robots can be used to only produce consumer goods and work in dangerous situations. Everything service related will be provided by humans.
>>
>>28837678
thats still a 50%+ unemployment rate
>>
>>28837546
>Why are people so against robots replacing workers?

This makes no sense. Humans are robots already. The change is simply going to replace first-order (evolution-designed) robots, namely humans, with second-order (evolution-designed-robots-designed) robots.
>>
>>28837583
>Not every job can be automated.

>>28837546
There would be a lot more people who would feel useless from getting replaced. It would also be harder to get jobs.
Even if we do end up with a socialist or Wall-E type life, people would end up lazier and humanity would have less of a chance to advance.
>>
>>28837546
Because workers are the lifeblood of the economy.
The economy is money trading hands. The majority of people have to do shit to earn money. Money can't be traded if people don't have it.
People not having money means they can't buy shit.

It's been a long time coming but the pay out of telling people they don't deserve to participate in the economy means the fucking economy dies. Throwing robots in there means you're producing a product no one can afford. Surplus means slashing prices if you want to push it. Labor has been becoming more efficient while it has been getting paid less. Trying to cut them entirely out of the process means you don't want to sell anything because nobody can fucking buy it. They can drag by on people with money trying to draw it out for a while but it's been a long time coming. Expect profits to go down because you don't want the economy to grow.

>>28838194

Because people will still need to earn money.

I'm guessing your a redpilled young man who does not want to pay high taxes to support "stupid people" on a universal income.

If you're a doctor/engineer/etc you will get lower wages because you will have less clients or projects. Those people don't just vanish when you make their job disappear. You don't have enough soldiers or armed "smart" people to defend against a mob of hundreds of millions of unemployed pissed off starving people.

If you really want to say "fuck all the people who will lose their jobs because they are low class" be prepared to wind up losing what you have fighting a civil war against them.

Find a solution or you're fucked too.
>>
>Why should progress be stopped because stupid people can't just flip burgers anymore?
Why should people who do this menial work allow progress to happen if it won't benefit them?
>>
>>28838388
Adapt or die.

Go back to school or become a prostitute.

>Why should people who do this menial work allow progress to happen if it won't benefit them?
>implying you have a choice in the matter
>>
>>28838388
You're implying soldiers do it simply for the money. That ignores conscription and other factors.
Why do you think it'd go to a civil war? They can squeeze blood from a stone and grind the stone down. Nothing changes for them immediately. For the "I can't move I'm a fucking stone" some of them just get grinded down.
It's just a game. They might decide well fuck it I don't need a stone. They'll probably still be the last to go. You'd think wearing down and killing it off completely might sound sensible but who cares if it doesn't effect you negatively and you profit/benefit off it.
>>
Companies that are all in for automation will end up going bankrupt.

First for the lack of people being able to afford to eat fast food and second for all the people boycotting the movement.

Automation is as good as dead on arrival
>>
>>28837546
Because capitalism would break and the people at the top would lose their power.
>>
>>28838524
That's the problem.
People do have a choice.

If legal structures provide nothing for a significant majority of the population, they will reject the legal structure.

The stranglehold that a relatively small portion of the population has on wealth depends on the functioning of current legal structures. People will accept being ripped off (like most are), so long as they still get something to show for it.
Take that away, and people will disregard it completely.

A basic income is the best strategy the wealthy have to maintain that wealth. If they give nothing to >50% of the population, they will lose it all.
>>
>>28838388
You wanna know more buddy?
How "Up to date" are you? Bill Gates starts to cash outs his stocks on fossil fuels. A week or two later there is some bad publicity about how fossil fuels effects the world.
As long as they save face, grind the world down. It's not skin off their nose.
They'll do anything to be the last man standing. Tell you what, he paid enough I'd do what I could to make sure of it too. Others lives are worth more than mine either way.
>>
>>28837546
Because human rationality is still needed for some of the more articulate tasks like inventory managing and quality inspection.

Waiters and register operators are pretty much fucked though.

You can't fight automation. Machines are just flat out better than humans at repetitive tasks.

That is going to make tax rates absolutely retarded, and it can't work unless you greatly restrict immigration, which a lot of governments aren't too keen on doing right now..
>>
>>28838874
Nice fiction. In reality they would just hire guards and have technicians on call.
>>
>>28838797
That's the thing though.
As the amount of people who do disregard the law increases, the percentage of people who are incarcerated for disregarding the law will decrease.
There is a tipping point.
Once it reaches that tipping point, incarceration no longer becomes an adequate deterrent, and as such more people will join in. It very quickly becomes a case with a real potential for the legal structure to evaporate.

You can't arrest 50% of the population. It's just not feasible.
Empires, leaders and societies have fallen for significantly less.

The chimpouts that America have been having have demonstrated this on a smaller scale.
Even though they were small and localised, only a very small portion of participants were able to be brought to justice.
And this is in a society where authorities could be considered *overarmed*.
>>
>>28838822
This. Moar robots means moar programmers for those robots i.e. new jobs!

Basically the only people who are afraid of robots are wage cucks who think they can "live" doing the same shit for 50 years.
>>
>>28838973
>You can't arrest 50% of the population
Well that 50% number is ridiculous to begin with and they can surely try.
>>
>>28839034
What about when robots start writing their own programs?
>>
>>28839069
Someone has to design, program, manage, repair and monitor the robots. Even if Mcdonalds replaces all their workers, the stores are not going to lifeless and just robots. There has to be some people there to handle the robots.
>>
>>28839137
>Someone has to design, program, manage, repair and monitor the robots.
Other robots could do that.
>>
>>28837546
Wagecucks will become neets like us
>>
>>28839035
I've worked out that at capacity, our prison system can sustain 0.2%-0.3% of the population being incarcerated at any time.
There are no figures for the rate at which people could be incarcerated (although our courts and police would probably start to fail at about 10000 people being arrested in a single day). Note this is the estimate times ten, just to be absolutely sure).

Even at conservative estimates, it only takes 0.04% of the population rejecting the system simultaneously to completely overwhelm the power of civilian law enforcement in my country).

The tipping point could be lower than 1%.

>they can surely try
Part of me would secretly love to see them try.
>>
>>28838175
Income depends on what value we give to the labor. If we free up human labor, we can put monetary incentives on other activities that cannot be performed by robots. Examples would be care of other people and artistic endeavours. You could get paid for being your child's best friend in school, you could get paid for being friends with lonely people, you could get paid (more) for performing arts or participating in sports.
>>
>>28839323
>Other robots could do that.
Those robots have to be programmed too.
>>
>>28839034
Being a programmer is only for a small minority of the population though. Coding is very difficult, not many people understand it. I work in IT and the industry's desperate to find certified professionals because only 1 in a million understands this shit.
>>
>>28839323
We still need humans to write a universal code that can disable all robots if shit hits the fan.

Alternatively design and program robot-killer robots that do not have very high AI or any free will.

Business means humans selling shit to humans.
You need a human to know what other human wants, therefore you need a human to tell the robot what to do in order to create shit for humans.

There is two possible outcomes for the future of modern civilizations.

1) Basic income (with anti-immigration laws)

2) Massive amounts of homelessness and unrest, riots and chaos on massive scales.

The super rich will decide that just giving money to everyone else benefits them financially in the long run. It will be better for them in a strictly financial sense to just give money to everyone else so they can recirculate back to them by buying consumer goods and paying loans with interest, and prevent the collapse of society and along with it their wealth.
>>
>>28840251

You missed the point completely. One career being the only worthwhile one creates a monopoly, essentially making it so that employers can be as shitty and corrupt as they want because they know nobody will willingly leave. Plus over saturation as mentioned earlier, meaning a large amount of unemployment. Which means either people in the streets, or more welfare handouts. Which means more taxes.
>>
>>28837546
>>28837546
robots will turn everyone into black people. The majority of humans will no longer have a meaningful role in society and this will lead to either genocide or feudalism.
>>
>>28840251
>everyone is looking for coders

Tons of people are coming out of college right now with degrees relevant to software development, but they're unable to get a job.

Regarding technology, especially programming, it is currently extremely difficult to find employment.

>>
>>28840340
>I'm a fucking nigger and even I

You have it far easier than white people in finding employment at anything other than Mom and Pop businesses.

Have you every heard of something called affirmative action? There is tons of large companies willing to hire a nigger over far more qualified white people just to fill a racial quota.
>>
>>28840145
>You need a human to know what other human wants
No you don't. Targeted ads have been a thing for a while now. Finding out what humans want is basic pattern recognition, which robots are quite good at.
>>
>>28838364
most modern military equipment is shielded from EMP blasts. its actually not that hard to do

so you'd basically handing the world over to military authority (who will keep in line with robot drones)

It feels weird because it's unnatural. For the majority of human history, "money" was just any object with universal value. Usually rare metals.
>>
>>28840375
>You have it far easier than white people in finding employment at anything other than Mom and Pop businesses.
literally bullshit and you know it. Whites are extremely disgusted at the mere thought of niggers
>Have you every heard of something called affirmative action?

>There is tons of large companies willing to hire a nigger over far more qualified white people just to fill a racial quota.
>muhwhitepride.webm
Get over yourself. You aren't getting hired because you have no qualifications. Besides this is a catch 22 for me. If I get no job offers it means I'm lazy. If I get a job it's just "affirmative action". Ever considered maybe I built up job skills?
>>
>>28840541
>It's illegal in my state

National/international corporations don't care. There's large amounts of niggers who aren't even smart getting into colleges just because they're black, and a large amount of niggers who easily get jobs at large corporations to fill a (government mandated or otherwise) racial quota.

There's plenty of hiring managers with personal biases who will hire a nigger over more qualified whites just to show off how "tolerant" and "progressive" they are.

https://www.google.com/diversity/
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/diversity/diversity-at-intel.html

Look at this shit, when you fill out applications for large corporations like this many of them specifically ask if you want to identify your race, do you know why they do that? They're looking to hire niggers to push their SJW agenda, they're very open about it, it's not a secret.
>>

"We're still not where we want to be when it comes to diversity."

I believe solar energy will become far more prominent than it is now, and we will have clean hydroponic farming that can grow far more crops in the same amount of space compared to traditional farming, and it won't destroy the top soil.

with all the looting and chaos going on, someone took the time to bend that sign.

There's no real long-term reason to oppose non-sentient robots. Robots will do most of the labour and generate enough wealth to make universal basic incomes worth it, after that people can either continue being NEETs for the rest of their lives or pursue higher education in fields that robots can't do as well.

But people are dumb and will always oppose changes that would realistically help them. Or maybe they uniroinically love being wageslaves.
>>
>>28842057
I dunno, why would they make the sign like that purposefully? You'd barely be able to read it.
>>
UBI and automation would work well if there's no kind of revolution.

But people need to stop thinking capitalism is desirable.
>>
>>28842110
No, what happens is Marx's nightmare: those with capital and power, for the first time in history, no longer need workers and therefore no longer employ them. what ensues is of course unrest because now even the small percent or wealth which is being distributed is held by the rich, and then a large scale massacre (why keep people if you don't need them?)

But I guess this is far from happening. automatization still has a long way to go till most people are replaceable
>>
>>28842200
This is why you hold onto the second amendment. Rich people can't kill you if you have guns and outnumber them.
>>
>>28842258
Rich people have missiles, jets, and of course robots. Poor people have hunting rifles and molotov cocktails. It'll be like the race war you gun nuts go on about except this time the leaders of the white race eliminate the unnecessary majority
>>
>>28842327
What you think all rich people will side with other rich people? You think poor people can't afford robots when the entire premise implies robots are cheap as shit. Plus what are they going to do? Bomb everyone? What's the point of having robots in the first place if you are just going to bomb everyone that the robots are working for? Also don't underestimate how smart people can get when their lives are on the line. War isn't just about having more powerful weapons it is also about tactics. And again bombing and nuking your entire country does not sound like a very smart plan.

>>
>>28837546

Theoretically that should all be great, robots handling most of the work of any particular day on Earth frees the rest of us up to pursue our own interests and happiness. Realistically our entire system of distribution for survival tokens rests on the notion that there's work for just about everyone to do. When and if that becomes not true, society will need to turn around on it really quick for there to not be huge problems with destitution, homelessness and general squalor that will result from large groups of people being unemployable in any way. However, there's not any reason to believe turnaround will be quick because people and institutions are very slow to turn around on fundamental concepts like employment and I sincerely doubt that significant enough changes will be made quickly enough to avoid disaster, especially considering that for most people having a job and working is a moral issue as much as it is an economic one.

In some ways you could say this is already happening in some parts of America, but it's third-world outsourcing that's replacing the jobs rather than robots, and the outlook from those places is pretty grim.
