It used to be BSc Comp Sci, but there's so much demand that apprenticeship schemes have started taking off (brother's mate's doing one) and they seem ok.
Though honestly, it's just firing up the editor and writing some shit, and getting it on Github/Gitlab etc.
A software dev interview is usually a quick phone chat, then a coding exercise (basic linked list implementation, something related to the company) then if that's ok you'll get a face to face just to get to know you. Nothing strenuous, anybody with the right attitude can usually get a junior position.
