I would honestly give up the chance of ever having a romantic partner if I gained the ability to make and keep real friends easily. You don't feel sorry for old people who die unmarried, you feel sorry for old people who die unmarried and friendless.
I only have one friend left and we don't even have anything in common anymore other than that we were neighbors for most of our childhood and teenage years.
