It was considered taboo to depict Jesus as a regular baby, especially in pieces commissioned for the church, so he often looks like an old man/body builder instead. Lots of artists copied this form during the renaissance because it was easier than learning how to paint actual babies

>These images were found on the ceiling beams of the 3000 year old New Kingdom Temple -- specifically dedicated to the chief god of the Egyptian pantheon, Osiris. located several hundred miles south of Cairo and the Giza Plateau, at Abydos. As you can see, images of a helicopter, submarine, plane and hovercraft are depicted! Again this piece of ancient art seems to suggest that the Egyptians knew about the latest technology that we are using today.

I think it's plausible, and definitely something worth looking into, but there is never gonna be a serious investigation unless we find something fucking huge, like a piece of honest to goodness future technology. The best hope for something like that would probably be the Egyptians, but I'm not holding my breath.

>Garcilaso also reported something else interesting. In his Royal Commentaries of the Incas he gave an account of how, in historical times, an Inca king had tried to emulate the achievements of his predecessors who had built Sacsayhuaman. The attempt had involved bringing just one immense boulder from several miles away to add to the existing fortifications: This boulder was hauled across the mountain by more than 20,000 Indians, going up and down very steep hills ... At a certain spot, it fell from their hands over a precipice crushing more than 3000 men.

In the Bible, a case of teleportation can be found in Acts of the Apostles (8:38-40). The apostle Philip rode on the chariot of a eunuch. When they came upon a small body of water, the eunuch asked Philip to baptize him. Philip disappeared afterward and found himself in another place where he preached the good news.

Here's the Biblical account:

"He commanded the chariot to stop, and both of them, Philip and the eunuch, went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; the eunuch saw him no more, and went his way rejoicing. But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he was passing through the region, he proclaimed the good news to all the towns until he came to Caesaria."

Second case

Another example of teleportation in the Bible can be found in John (6:16-21). Jesus and his disciples were out at sea, three to five miles from the shore. When Jesus stepped into the boat, they found themselves immediately at the shore. Here's the King James Bible's description of the incident:

"And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea, and entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. So when they had rowed about five and 20 or 30 furlongs, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. But He saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. Then they willingly received Him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went."

Unless it's a tethered wormhole through time, I don't see time travel m8. The problem with physical time travel is that the Earth moves so much so quickly that if you did go back, even a few minutes, you'd end up either in the center of the Earth or deep space.

The way to remedy this is, of course, teleportation. Or in other words, Wormholes.

The most plausible way to time travel I've seen was in Stephen Baxter's Xeelee Sequence series of books. Essentially, you create a tethered wormhole with one end in the Solar System and the other end on a ship capable of significant-fraction-lightspeed. Then, by traveling at relativistic speeds, some significant fraction of C, I don't recall right now you can quickly get to 'The future.' Then you jump through the wormhole and you're back in the past.

In the books, this was used to disastrous effect by an invading species to enslave a weaker human race before they had time to develop modern weapons

The real problem is that what you need for this to work is a start point. It's like in Primer, you can only go back as far as you've known about time travel.

This is the crux of it. How is there a wormhole to 2000 years in the past connected to modern times? This isn't something that could occur in nature because it requires relativistic speeds, which you can't achieve for a region as large as the BT on the surface of a planet without the rest of the planet.

Obviously you could say, 'Well, aliens abducted them THEN sent them back in time with their Wormhole machine.' But then we're back to aliens, so the point is moot anyway.

A more reasonable explanation would be that Airplanes, Helicopters, and the like are simply the most efficient way to move around in atmosphere. Anti gravity or whatever seems pretty far fetched, and rockets aren't efficient in the slightest for in-atmosphere flight.

That is, if you assume this isn't a coincidence, which in all likelihood it is.
>>

seriously though the only way I could perceive time travel is if it costs exponentially as much power as the number of seconds you want to travel, so there would be asymptotic limit to how far you can go.

Primer's a great example of why time travel is ultimately doomed since(spoilers) the movie starts with them already in a second, altered timeline and things just get more fucked from there.

>seriously though the only way I could perceive time travel is if it costs exponentially as much power as the number of seconds you want to travel, so there would be asymptotic limit to how far you can go.

That seems pretty arbitrary, got a line of reasoning for that?

Not to be rude, just curious.

For me, I just think of time as another spatial dimension. That's why Baxter's method is the most plausible I've seen: It treats time like any other spatial dimension that one can travel through, even if it requires a lot of work, rather than something like Steins;Gate or Primer where it's just, 'put in regular 'ole electricity and it works.'
