Doc wants me to take mirtazapine. What's your opinion on anti-depressants? Do you have any thoughts?

why is it poison?
>>
Took them for one year during high school, it
alleviated my depression but also made me
despondent and even more unmotivated than I
ever was when depress. I do not recommend it
unless you are to a point where your
depression is so ungodly bad the feeling never
disappears even temporarily. The brain is too
complex and fragile to be altering it with
long-term consumption of pills; people taking it
today are the guanine pigs for more advanced
safer treatment for the future.
>>

In short, this and other depression "medicine" will harm your brain. I took several types for years without knowing any better. I really regret having done so.

You need to exhaust all other alternatives before resorting to this shit.
>>
Had some lightweight ones. They make you pretty monotone. Make your emotions stabilize, the good and the bad parts. Worth the try IMHO.
>>
I'm on prozac, I'm not so depressed anymore its more just a nihilistic suicidal state of mind

Actually I am more on edge and stressed out all the time than depressed, which is why I think they're giving me mirtazapine which sedates a bit.
>>
if the person telling you to take them said there are no side effects because they work for me and am fine - they are lying and false advertising and just plain shilling for more dollars to make you have more reasons to visit them.

here is what i would tell them;
>if they /really/ do work as you said they are then you would have no problem taking them while i am here and showing me each time i visit. show me that they work as i said or you are full of shit and will find another person to go to which will make you lose out on making more money. would you like to give me your card so i can call and check up on how you are doing with taking them?

Dude im taking the same shit. I stopped taking it because im already inconsistent with taking my regular meds as it is and whenever i miss a day of not taking the mirtazapine, I feel lethargic and tired as fuck the next day and it's overall a shitty experience if you get off the medication. Havn't taken the medication in over 2-3 weeks and im just replacing it with smoking weed to regulate how i feel (Doc's said i could get off it and replace it). I hate AD's so much after a psychiatrist had put me onto that shit. Now i see why people talk so much shit about them in the first place

I took mirtazapine for a good while
It helps with sleeping and eating(if you have trouble with it)
Didn't help with my depressions tho
The sleepiness and weight gain could be seen as side effects, but for me they aren't
They can't fuck you up like SSRIs/SNRIs
Sertraline fucked up my stomach and venlafaxine killed my dick
>>
My doctors want to put me on mood stabilizers
I am diagnosed with depressions and anxiety
I don't think I am bipolar or schizophrenic
Are they memeing me?

Yeah I put on 20 pounds in a month with my regular snacking habit. Count calories. It genuinely makes you tired if you suffer from insomnia like me

it's so strange when the drug works

>Doc wants me to take mirtazapine. What's your opinion on anti-depressants? Do you have any thoughts?

I want you to prescribe a bullet to his brain or if you don't want to ruin your life with prison you can go to a therapist instead of a pill pusher and actually talk your problems out.

The thing about anti-depressants are that they don't work. They work for a little while but your body gets tolerant. Eventually you are taking a large dose, which could not be good for your brain. You think because it is pharmaceutical that it is not just the same as any other drug?

And when you try to get off a high anti-depressant dosage, well, that won't be fun.
>>
>>28814082
Look up the side effects of any anti-depressant on google yourself fag blower.

>dual action anti-depressants
Never ever take these. Discontinuation syndrome is almost as bad as venlafaxine.

Ask him for vortioxetine if your insurance will cover it. Works really well because of its mechanism of action.

Ignore this guy too. You probably won't put on any weight unless you're unlucky or literally do nothing all day. Weight gain in appreciable amounts is primarily attributed to antipsychotics, but it's not impossible for antidepressants and other psychiatric drugs to have that effect.

>>28815635
>mood stabilizers

Which ones?

Not even if I was in the midst of psychosis.
>>
I use mirtazapine for my insomnia, works pretty good.
>>
>>28818845
>Which ones?
They didn't say
First I have to get my liver working 100% again before I can start taking more meds

>Never ever take these. Discontinuation syndrome is almost as bad as venlafaxine.
I have gone through Mirtazapine withdrawal(taking it for half a year and then instantly dropping it from 45mg per day to 0) and it wasn't too bad
I had trouble sleeping and didn't eat anything for a few days, but then I felt good again
I forgot to take Venlafaxine once(375mg) and I felt like shit in the evening and the next morning
It's way worse than Mirtazapine
>>
>>28818970
>They didn't say
Well to answer your question I need to know which ones they want you to take.

>It's way worse than Mirtazapine
Of course it is. Venlafaxine is like a 10, most dual actions are like a 4-5, and most SSRI/TCA/MAOIs are like a 2.

Perhaps "almost as bad" was an exaggeration, but I still wouldn't bother with dual action antidepressants.

Not sure if this was only for me but I was on 40mg of Zoloft for 6-8 months and it went okay.

Things i noticed was it killed my dick, it would take me way longer than it should to finish, and most of the time I would give up trying because it wasn't worth the hassle.
It also made me more emotionless, like nothing fased me the way it should have. It was nice not feeling like shit all the time but that lack of feeling toward anything was what made me get off of it. It made me appreciate the ups and downs that life throws at us.

If you really feel depressed then try a medication to see if that helps. It's only going to work though if you seek to try to get better. s
