Anyone else feel like they grew up slower than everyone else?

I don't think I truly started learning how social interaction works until freshman year of college. I basically spent all of high school focusing on school work and chilling with my family (mom, sis and bro). I always hear about people getting GF's/BF's at like 13 or 14, but at that age I wasn't even thinking about stuff like that. I was so absorbed in my hobbies and maintaining high grades that it honestly never occured to me that I should probably start competing socially. Not to mention the fact that I didn't exit the awkward part of puberty until like the last half of 11th grade.

>tfw had to learn ten years of social interaction in three years of college
>tfw will always be behind people who started learning this shit earlier

People grow up faster every day. Society gets faster and needs it workers quicker.
Wouldnt be surprised if the legal age will be lowered at some (distant) point in the future.

>tfw growing up as an intrinsic human quality is a lie, and instead the concept changes as social climates change

It is indeed a lie. "Growing up" means fulfilling the training camp for society.

This is literally the opposite of what has happened over the past one hundred years.

People grow up far, far slower than they used to, because more specialized training in necessary to maintain a more complex and networked society. Societal adolescence today is often extended into the twenties. There are plenty of workers as it is due to a larger population and a globalized pool of labor anyway.

Don't confuse teenagers bumping their crotches together more at younger ages to be signs of faster overall maturity. People are basically children until they're 25 now.

What is maturity ?
Is it being polite ?
Is it taking responsibility ?
Is it knowing the rules ?
Or are all these just values attributed to maturity by modern society ?
I think someone is "mature" or fully developed once their brain finishes developing.
But even that is a doubtful concept since you can learn at any age.

yeah I was the same op. for me high school age 11 to 16 I was trying to study hard and do all my homework and hopefully have enough time to play psx games. on weekends sometimes my friend would come round or vice versa so we could do a linkup game of red alert or doom and that was it.

then I got into college and for 2 years did more studying. I realised people were going out and drinking and stuff but....on a school night? and y know muh homework. so after I finished college at 18 I basically had no idea of gfs and was still into yidya.

went to uni in September then turned 19 a couple months later. 6 months into uni I realised
>19 years old and no gf
> 19 years old and socially awkward during the most social phase of my life
>nobody likes videos like I do. (it's 2005)
>despite my studying, the high concentration of smart people from andll over the country means I'm now average in academic ability
>as year goes on realise I'm actually below average and need to work hard
>realise these athletic attractive jock types are better than me socially and academically and have lots of female friends
>realise I'm not going to get good grades or a good job
>realise school was a waste of time and I should've socialised instead.
>June 2005 see all the jocks and pretty girls doing great and having a ball
>lock self away. start to play lots more vidya and mmo. get amiga emulator. revert to mid 90s child self.
>find 4chan
>/b/
>graduate 2008 with 2:2 (britcuck) barely notice. didn't go graduation etc. all jocks have good job offers. I'm unemployed and now an alcoholic.
>finally stop shitposting on that niggertits board in 2012
>where did 7 years go.
>fuck
>now 2016 and civil servant.
>could've got this job at 16 and not gone uni and still be doing same job but without wasting those years and developing alcoholism.
>mfw ;^)

haha, I'm having basically the same experience at uni. In high school I could at least use my intelligence as a crutch. Now I'm surrounded by people who are just objectively better than me at almost everything.

Don't see how you people could grow up so isolated from your peers. Like, you didn't even play or hang out with the neighborhood kids?
