You can look at all the negative bullshit or the positives. We have it easier than most other times in history, believe it or not. You work and save money if you're smart and buy things that people in the past couldn't even dream of. The only thing that sucks is our wages are so deflated because of immigration epidemics that we work hard and have little to show for it. Luckily they'll have to go back soon.

>>
>>28801841
I think it probably depends on the company. Most of what I do involves writing code that queries data as requested by people in my department. There's often a lot of manipulation that needs to be done in order to present it in the desired manner depending on the request. Some requests are simple and can be finished in less than an hour, others are much more in depth and can take days to complete.

Pretty much just listen to music and write code. Sometimes when code is running I'll read a book. I try to look like I'm doing something else though when management is walking around.

I was a three year neet before moving to North Dakota with 500 bucks in my pocket, Only experience I had was working at target for two months and I hadn't had a job besides odd work for thee years. Lived with my mom and it killed to see everyone progressing besides me.. no job or car or any income.

I lucky knew someone in town almost as desperate as me and he had a car that worked and we just left.
I got in on the ground floor with my company and started in a shop turning a wrench on hydraulic assemblies, then started pressure testing valves and drill pipe for the same outfit. (1 year in) I was living in a camper at the time

During a management shake-up I was moved into the office and began working with customers. Not too long after that there was another management shake-up and a salesman became manager, I got that spot and started working in town, driving around and seeing customers. Got a company truck. (2 years)

After three years with the company I got the regional sales position for North Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming. This is where I am now; selling high explosives used down-hole during frac jobs. I'm paid salary plus commission. I have a 2015 truck they bought me, company phone, they buy me two meals a day. I haven't paid for gas in two years. I have almost no oversight, and choose my own work hours. I can also fly on their dime

Been working with this company for about 3.5 years. I made 268,000 last year. I'm 25 years old, and still am uncomfortable around women

cool. i have worked at this Shoppers for about 5 years. six in August. what did you work at before

i was originally hired as a weekend merchandiser, but i sorta branched out into front end and receiving. i'm now about half and half, but leaning towards back end or merchandiser stuff

front end workers are your typical cashier workers. their main focus is checking out and bagging customers, making sure the cashes are clean and the front ends are faced/tidied, that sort of thing.

back end workers make sure the store is fully stocked (or as fully stocked as it can be), bulk displays are tidied (and/or changed for the next week's sale), that kind of thing.

it's pretty straightforward, i suppose, but their work is something you don't really think about if you aren't in the thick of it or w/e

Oh damn. Do you see yourself at Shoppers long term? I was a fast food cuck before hand. Was much shittier. Glad i'm not doing it anymore.

Thanks for the info. Would be embarrassing to ask after working there for so long. :p

Oh, whos fault is it for expired over the counter drugs? I've almost given people expired drugs before because the stock wasn't replaced.
>>
>>28805061
Damn. $3700 and you're a felon with no degree? How'd you manage that?
>>
>>28805110
i really want to find something pertaining to my degrees, but i feel kind of comfortable at this Shoppers. i guess my answer is "yes," especially if i can find a managerial position or something at some Shoppers.

it's cool, though. i'm still not sure what pharmacy techs do, even though i've worked at Shoppers for ages. i guess it's a position that's somewhere between cashier and pharmacist, but i'm not sure.

at my store, there's basically a merchandiser that's assigned the OTC area. she's tasked with ensuring the out of date OTC drugs are thrown out, and the drugs that are close to their expiration are either front-faced or severely discounted (this is based on how close the item is to the date, and how big the packaging is or w/e).

our store sells food, too. a similar thing happens to the food section - we have a floor staff that ensures expired products are thrown out (or given to the receiver to be scanned out for replacement or whatever).

do you have someone assigned to ensure product freshness or whatever at your store?
>>
>>28805166
Well there are basically no standards of employment for car salesman in most situations. I saw an ad on Craigslist, went and filled out my application, and spoke to the manager for a few mins. I have a personality type that makes me very good in job interviews and other "performance" situations, but otherwise I'm not very social. For example I did well in debate during high school, but now live my life almost as a shut in.

Basically, they're always hiring. If you have a shred of charisma you stand a pretty good chance. Hell, you could spin some more basic retail experience into a good foundation, saying you're "ready for something that will let you be a little more ambitious" or some similarly insipid crap.

10.25/hr.

My company owes me 80-100hrs of overtime pay due to how the pay works at my company. My OT hours cross between two pay periods. So I get 2hrs on ome and 6 on another. This has been going on since December.

I like the job but hate management. The pay doesn't increase and we haven't had a paraise since the 90s where 10.25 was good money.

They keep pushing me to go armed carry but I don't like the required weapon ee have to use. Plus I don't make enough to actually pay for it since they write us a check and then we pay them back. Even if I was armed id have to work armed sites and there's enough and drivers in Tx to make me not want to travel.

You need capital, but if you have friends/acquaintances, you can ask for a front. Buy whatever drug you plan on selling in bulk, and sell it to people you know. Obviously it's easier said than done, but mostly everyone starts out by selling to friends and friends of friends. Don't sell on the streets.

I'll use weed as an example. Say that a pound costs $2500. There are 16oz in a pound and 28 grams per oz. That's a total of 448 grams. If you sold each gram for $10, you'd have $4480 for a profit of $1980. The key here is to buy in bulk so you don't pay "retail". If you can refrain from spending all that cash you made, you can get even more and the prices you pay will drop lower.

However, if you get too big then you run the risk of rival drug dealers and the authorities. Set a limit for yourself, in time or profits. For example, you could say that you would deal for a year and get out, or you could say you would want to make $10k and then get out. It's not something you do forever.

It's shit pay, $16 per hour, I get paid mileage and travel time when I have to travel as well. I might be able to negotiate a larger salary as I'm being given more responsibilities. I get weekends and holidays off, so at least there's that.

If I got paid better I would be more satisfied, the company is owned by people I've known since I was a kid and my boss is someone I've known since I was a teenager. It really depends on what others do or the work load. When there is too little room to fit more cases into the racks then it is pretty crappy. If other people just do sloppy work it affects organization in trying to find what you need quickly. Outside of those it is pretty good, and it is very chill when offloading containers.
