5'9 here, still the tallest guy at my job. A customer at work made some comment about how she was helped by a tall employee during one of her previous visits but couldn't remember his name. I mentioned this to a qt coworker and said, "I don't know who she thinks helped her, we don't have any tall guys here".
She said, "But you and (guy who's a inch or two shorter than me) are tall".
It may have been the first time a girl ever called me tall. Is this what non-manlets feel like?

I was with a 5"5' guy once (I'm about the same height) and even though I loved him at that time, only now, when I'm with a guy who is 6"3' (!!!) I know how awesome that is. I feel safe with him, he can lift me up no problem, when he wraps his arms around me it's like a huge, comfiest place in the world.

I'd say average. It depends on the girl's height. For most of my friends the minimum difference that is acceptable would be 15cm (6 inches), but 20cm (7,8 inches) would be better.
