I think r9k's problem is generally their personality way more than looks or anything of that nature that they're incapable of changing.
The outstanding majority of people will have sex in their lifetime, the majority of people will get married at one point or another so there's nothing physically preventing robots from being like most everyone else it's all mental.
I think it's the 'I know it all' syndrome, robots claim to have the ability to foresee how every possible social interaction will go despite generally not spending a lot of time around others. If you never interact with someone nothing will ever happen.
