When mum and dad went to marriage counseling my mum would go into the local store and pick me up a bionacle to build. Kept me distracted from the yelling in the other room. Good feels with those guys.

MNOLG was absolutely based.
Almost all of the characters had names derived from Polynesian languages, mostly Maori (Kopaka = glacier; Whenua = earth/land; Maku = moisture etc.) As a budding anthro-fag, this was the coolest shit ever.
Got LEGO in trouble when buttmad Maori activists ddos'd their website because muh cultural appropriation, and the lore suffered markedly ever after.
All the sets were shit after 2004, and the story absolutely tanked after 2006, which was about the time I lost interest.

MNOLG was a work of art. So atmospheric, mysterious; unlike anything I had seen. Everything about Bionicle sucked me in as a kid. It was exotic, had lore, and most importantly a story. Naturally it got milked to death since it was a success, but those first two-three years were top-tier toykino.

I fucking loved bionicle. Rahkshi and Bohrok were the best. I didn't really care for any of the Toa teams post-Nua. The story was fine up until the Mahri Nua arc ended (after the underwater stuff ended, and even then, things were going downhill fast). Voya Nui was the last thing I enjoyed.
The sets got shit after Mahri Nui. Couldn't stand it by the time Glatorian ended.
Fuck Hero Factory. I can see why some people liked it, but Bionicle was basically shit canned for it, and I was bitter.

Bionicle was the fucking bomb, what was your favorite story arc? I loved the Piraka and the expansion on the mythos with Voya and Mahri Nui. Theself-sacrificewith Matoro was amazing.
The classic stuff is still great though. Any sets y'all are proud of? I still have an original Gali and Kovahk (ice bohrok's name I think) and a Likhan and Kikanalo set. Plus Kardas Dragon. Anyone ITT have some OG Rahi or Toa Kaita?

I got the Lego magazine. It was pretty much worthless to me besides the Bionicle content. When they announced the contests for the Rahi guide book and the Villains guide I lost my shit.
Does anyone else have those books? Sometimes, even now, I'll go back and read those things. Some amazing models. Mine were shit for the longest while, so theyes gave me reference material.

Used to love this shit as a kid, sadly grew out of it before I could start MOCing. Only had one bionicle figure because parents weren't exactly wealthy and could only get me one though. I loved it and had so much fun with it, I think I still have it lying around somewhere, I should find it and create something cool out of it. On the surface? Tribal robots.
A little deeper? A legitimately well made and planned out story about six heroes learning to work together to save their island. It had all sorts of lore, from books to comics to even its own web page (Keep in mind this was 2001 when the internet was still pretty new) which had its own online adventure game. That's not even mentioning that the toys were fucking awesome and you had all those masks to collect, plus the mysterious island atmosphere was fucking beautiful and left you wanting more. It's arguably one of the best toy lines ever made, period.
